Ok, this isn't a daycare parent but I also do private tutoring after my kids leave...it's a long day. Haha I thought you ladies may have some good advice though.
I tutored a girl over the summer, charging 20.00 per hour. One time I had to cut it short and only did a half hour. Grandma asked how much and I said 10.00 (which I thought was obvious haha). I tutored her once or twice since that time, and she started the 20.00 payment again with no questions.
Yesterday, she handed me folded up cash before she left, which she always does. I didn't check it because it's always right (usually just 2 10's or 4 5's).
Of course, after she left I realize it's two 5's. She only paid me 10. She is this elderly woman who is so kind and I'm wondering if maybe she counted wrong or honestly forgot how much to pay. Today I tutor again, and I know I should say something (especially if she hands me 10 again)...but I feel so awkward. Any ideas of a nice way to handle the situation? I honestly don't think she's short changing me on purpose and I know she will probably be mortified. Thanks!
