    Table Cloth

Hi, I recently bought a new dining room set. (I need more seating for dck's) I currently just have a vinyl tablecloth on it it to protect it when they are here. Problem is it gets shifted and pulled on. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep it on the table. I don't want to use tape or anything to damage my new table. Any advice? Thanks

They make something like what you would use to keep a rug in place for tablecloths, I think. Or you could get that raised/rubber shelf liner to use under it (just make sure you use enough so the whole table is covered so things don't spill if something is set down and it's uneven).

I've never done it, but I've seen these bungee cord type things that are like strips of elastic with a clip on each end. Maybe they can hold the edges and pass under the table? sort of strap the tablecloth on?
Also, if there is enough overhang, you could sew the corners like a fitted sheet.

what about the metal clips that hold tablecloths on picnic tables so the wind doesnt take them away? they are metal, but they go OVER the tablecloth, so they wouldnt scratch the wood. i found mine in walmart in the camping supplies area...

If the underside of the table cloth is plastic, spray sugar water on the table. Should be easy to clean afterwards. Not sure of your table's finish but it should be able to handle a light spray if it's made for dining.

Before I switched to a thick glass table I had a wood table that we found glass for to put on top. This protected the wood itself which was great. Lots of people don't like glass tabletops but I like them because it's so easy to clean.

This is what I was going to suggest. :-) I know the feeling but it's not too bad at my house.

Personally I don't care for vinyl cloths. The kids never fail to poke their forks and tear them two days after I get them=(
