I don't get why parents think we have more time and energy to do these things than they do. Most have 1 or 2 kids that they are taking care of. Why would I have more time and energy to do this when I am taking care of 6-10?????

I think somewhere the line between personal assistant and child care provider gets blurred. Next thing I know someone will be dropping off laundry and dishes. Sheesh!
I'd probably let DCG make one if there is any down time but unless DCM is friends with all the DCK's parents I would tell DCD "I think it would be more meaningful and personal if you and DCG made it"- some guys are clueless and think that it seems like a bigger gester to have a bunch of (practically strangers) make a bunch of cards than the only two people who really count.
I mean like you said I personally wouldn't mind doing it if I came up with the idea on my own and decided to do this because I wanted to do it out of the goodness of my heart, but for him to expect to take time out of regular routine and curriculum at the drop of the hat kinda makes it hard to actually put you in the spirit to do it. Also if u do it for them than you might have to do it for all the parents! Daycare logic 101- if someone gets special treatment everyone expects special treatment!
Then again I am the type of person who does things inspite of a person because they tell me I cant or when I am about to do something on my own and then someone tells me to do it and then I don't want to do it (permanant teenage logic syndrome?)
I am definitely not doing it. I just get so amazed at how much extra people ask for. Next time, I will just say, "Sure, I will make your wife a card. How about you take care of my dry-cleaning on your way to the donut shop?"
I replied, "Well, I have a pretty full day here, what with the six children and my planned curriculum. I would probably plan on doing one at home later."
I just get so tired with starting every day with another DUMB request. People just ****!

Your posts are keeping me laughing tonight. I'm new here but not to child care.
Just a little pet peeve. DCD just dropped off his daughter. He reminded me that today is DCM's birthday, so it would be great if I could make sure all the kids make her a card.
