    Laminate or Carpet?

Which should I get for my 3-5 year old group?

Do you mop it, and with what? Every day or what?

We pulled up the carpet in the playroom and replaced it with laminate last year. I agree with BC. So gross! There was a huge stain on the cement underneath! Laminate is much better.

I don't personally have laminate in my daycare rooms, I have tile. But I DO wash it by mopping it every single daycare day. I mop with vinegar to kill germs.

It comes in handy for keeping the amount of germs down and getting rid of allergens. Plus, you can't beat something that is easy to clean when someone gets sick (diarrhea or vomit).

Our home came with carpet but when we redo the playroom floor I'm going for tile or laminate or anything-but-carpet.

When we built our house 6 years ago, I had 3 rules I refused to negotiate on.
                • NO carpet...anywhere
                • NO window treatments
                • NO popcorn ceilings

I just can't stand any of them.

@MissAnn~ Laminate is easy to clean. Soap and water works great but they sell a ton of products just for laminate.

We have laminate flooring in some areas of the daycare house.

My only rule was NO WHITE PAINT. We'd lived in wall-to-wall-to-ceilling apartments for 11 years. I was SICK of white!

Me too. In the playroom and living room. Did people in the 70's actually think that looked good?

I'm thinking everything looked good in the 70ies....atleast to those who were messing with the psychedelic drugs....

just look at the wardrobes...the patterns and prints....oh my goodness! ::

Unfortunately contractors are STILL using it in homes because it is fast, cheap and it requires no skill to do. Lots of it in my house.
