    What's With All The Boys???

It seems all I ever get calls for are 3,4 and 5 yo boys. I have one 3 yo dcg in my care and the rest are all boys. The dcg's parents are the worst clients I have and I'd really like to term them, but I just love my one little princess so much that I have a hard time letting her go (even though she is actually rougher than any of the boys...will wrestle a boy to the ground trying to take toys away from them).

From the way it sounds, many of the other providers on here have a lot of boys also

I have mostly boys now. I went from mostly girls when I started out to boys. I have one dc girl and my own two dd's (who are in school). Having had both groups I would prefer a better balance if I can manage it in the future.
I'll be honest, the constant supervision/redirection the boys seem to need exhausts me!

I have three of my own boys (and a tomboy), and 6/8 kids in my care are boys. My two girls are both part time and alternate days, so I only ever have one girl here. (well, rarely someone will call out and dcg will pick up another day since they want ft when I have a spot)

I would PREFER all boys. I can't do the drama with girls, but I can handle the physical energy that come with boys. I also have a very polite group of young men, and I am asked if I need to go potty first, doors are held open for me, flowers (weeds?) are given to me (and the occassional rock, stick, bug, frog, etc) LOVE "MY" BOYS! ::

        That is so sweet!!

I don't have any DCK of my own yet, but all of the "interest" I have gotten so far has been for mostly girls. When DD was in daycare a couple years ago, it was her and 5 boys most days.

They say in times of war more boys will be born! I found this to be true while I was pregnant with DS1...I, 2 co workers, and my friend all had boys within months of each other!! That's not to say there weren't just as many girls born, there probably were but, I didn't personally see it! I have mostly boys here too and personally, I would take them over girls any day!::

When I started I had almost all girls, then it was balanced for awhile, and now I have NO girl dcks. I have my own daughter and then my DS and all boys.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I have all girls but one. But it evens out a little that I have two boys of my own.

                What's y'all's secret?! ::

When I initially started out I had an idea that I wanted to have all boys bc my youngest who is with me all day is also a boy. But I've had nothing but girls for 5 years!! Literally. I have one Tu/Th boy right now who is my best friend's son and other than that I've only had a couple and they never stayed long for various reasons . One just quit coming one day and then I learned that his big brother had been hospitalized and his mom lost her job bc of it. .

I would like more boys or at least an even number of girls/boys to equal out the dynamics but all I ever get is calls for little girls between the ages of 18-30 months.

I have a pretty even split. They all get along famously when playing things like hide-and-seek and "school." But sometimes it cracks me up, because I'll see the girls having a tea party in the middle of the floor, while the boys are playing some crazy action game with cotton balls or some other acceptable "weapon." (We have a small group so I don't mind a little bit of wildness.) It's like the girls are sipping their tea in the middle of a war zone. ::

I've always had mostly boys. Most calls/emails I got in the past were also for boys. There must be a flock of girls somewhere because even the couple of daycares around here are mainly boys too! Not sure where all the girls are hiding, but right now, I prefer the boys-dcg is too much drama for me. My pt dcg tho, is awesome! She's behaved, well-mannered, loves playing, listens well, eats and naps (most of the time) well, and is quite the comedian!

I just don't really recall drama when I had mostly (younger)girls. What I do remember is being able to use the bathroom without rushing because I could set them up with one activity and they would play it the whole time. No strange bumps or thumps followed by an outraged wail::

Although I did have one school aged girl who was a total "mean" girl and would tell the kids I was horrible and not nice to her because I didn't allow her to run roughshod over everyone...

I have had almost all girls, constantly since opening. Right now there are 6 girls here and one boy. I have taken care of a few boys before but almost everyone I interview is girls. I actually prefer girls over all because I have three girls of my own so I just know girls better. but its more about the personality anyway. My worst behaved kid was a girl. My sweetest daycare kid was a boy. you just never know what you are going to get. one of my provider friends had a lot of preschool age boys and one afternoon over there and I was so glad to come back to my crew. They were pretty wild and lots of back talk and such.

I have 5 boys and NO girls in Daycare. It's been almost 5 months since I had a girl. It's kind of hard to imagine having one at this point!

Got a call this week for...dun dun dun.....2 more boys

I have 4 boys and only 1 girl. When I was interviewing for a new baby I interviewed 4 pregnant families - ALL were pregnant with boys!!! Then one of my dc mom's got pregnant, thought this would maybe be my chance for a girl - just found out its a BOY.

Come this Fall, I'll only have 1 full-time DCG and 2 part-time DCGs.
