    Need Help Re: New Policy

I have been in the process of revising my policy/handbook for the past two weeks

On the 15th I printed out parent letters expaining this new policy would go into effect April 1st.

Here's where I need some advice. I have always, always had my fees due at the end of the week. I have now changed it in my policy to where the fees will be due in advance. HOW do I incorporate that policy to be effective for my current clients who have always paid after care was provided???

I've prepared a letter to go home tomorrow stating the new policies would be ready on Monday and after reading them over I will have new contracts to sign on Tuesday. I'd like to add in the letter before I hand it out something to the effect of how my current clients payments will be affected.

    Suggestions please?????

The only way I can think of that would be fair to current parents is to allow them to continue paying on their current day (I'm assuming Fri) but add a portion of one weeks tuition to that total until they have enough to pay in advance. That way it's not like you're asking for a double payment. As to how to word that I'm not going to be of much help. It's way past my bedtime and Blackcat or MarinaVanessa are way better at writing these things up.

I did the same several years ago and gave the parents several week's notice about the change. They ended up paying one Friday and the following Monday, but they'd had time to prepare. I didn't write up anything special, it just went into effect with the other policy changes.

Last year I switched from being paid Monday to being paid the previous Thursday, and I handled it the same way. They had several week's notice to prepare, then they paid me 2 paychecks the first week it went into effect.

Most of the time parents are pretty reasonable about policy changes, if they're told about them ahead of time.

      Good luck!
