OFF TOPIC~~~ Lost One of My Dogs Today :(

    I have ... well.. HAD... 5 dogs..
Today is the one day per week that I have an assistant..
The kids had mini corndogs for lunch and we ALWAYS cut them up to avoid choking issues...
The leftovers ... well.. she tossed out on the deck for my dogs to gobble up...

I do it every day... there is never much left.. but.. if it is something a doggie would like... I take them out.. scatter the scraps around so they all go to different 'piles'... and while they are outside I mop the kitchen tile floor..

Today I ran errrands during naptime..
    My assistant called me..
NICK.. The smallest of my Yorkie's.. DEAD..
    outside on the deck..
    apparently choked...
    on mini corn dog..
Unfortunately it was probably competition of the other dogs that played a large part in this tragic situation..
he probably grabbed one bite and didn't chew at all in his anxiousness to grab another bite before another of the dogs got it..

    Pretty sad tonight..
    I still have 4 dogs..
but.. I loved Nick the most.. he was specifically mine..
    REST IN PEACE Nick..
    You were loved...
(even though you did pee on the floor allot)

He was an ANNOYING LITTLE DOG... very very very annoying.. barked at EVERYTHING.. .. constantly... we have always said he is mentally unstable BUT it was just a joke.. he was just high strung..
and.. The most gorgeous 4 lb Yorkie ever...
I have tried to keep it together all afternoon...
My assistant felt HORRIBLE.. and I assured her it was NOT her fault..
If anything... it's mine for ever starting the practice of tossing them scraps... Thanks everyone.. it's ok..
Circle of life I suppose... We all know when we have animals.. they aren't ours forever..

I'm so sorry to hear this happened!!! I dread the day I'll have to face the loss of our dog. To us they are family members.

                        The worst PART....
The dog area is next to the daycare playground.. seperated by a chain link fence... dog area has a wooden deck...
the older kids.. (3 1/2 and 4... boys.. one of them is the assistant's child)...
they are the one's that said the dog was dead...
she was getting the rest of the children out to the playground.. and the older kids saw the dog first...
