I Need Advice On How To Deal With The Whiniest Kid EVER!

He is almost 3yo, I have had him since he was a baby but at this point I can barely tolerate him.

He cannot do the things that my other 2-3yos can do - like pull pants up/down, use toilet, put shoes on, put coat on, or follow directions.

But the thing that is sending me over the ledge is his constant whiney crying. If anything at all does not go his way he cries. I have tried everything and what I am doing now is the first whine I warn him that next time he goes in time out. 2nd whine I tell him he will go lay down. But after that we start over because I don't know what is worse than laying down (and still legal LOL). I am frazzled, frustrated, and annoyed. I have been doing this almost 22 years and this is the first kid I have had like this.

Sounds like an only child who gets his way at home when he turns on the whine. I only have hugs for you. I'd keep doing what you are doing... Is there a special project he likes to do? Maybe reward whine free moments with that and really play up the fact that he's being such a big boy, no whining, no crying, I'm so proud of you.... etc.

Is it that he cant do these physical things or that he wont do them?

One of the whiniest kids I had actually ended up being special needs. She couldnt do a thing for herself although she sometimes tried. It was a lot of crying from frustration and exhaustion, not able to verbalize and just constant meltdowns. are you seeing any other delays with your kiddo?
