    Anyone Have an Infant

That does not sleep. He is with me for 7 hours and takes maybe two 30 minute naps, if im lucky. He has been up since 7:30 and still up. He will just scream when it's time to lay him down. He is 5 months. He also will do the same at home. The longest he has been up without a nap was 8 hours. Not with me but at home.

His mom holds him all day and sleeps at home in a car seat or breastfed to sleep but once moved wakes.

Any advice on how to get him to nap longer? I usually put him in a pack and play and rock him to sleep for an hour or longer then he wake 30 minutes later.

I have one too. She is now 8 months old and she will only nap for 15 min or so at a time. She will however nap indefinitely if I hold her the whole time. They let her nap at home in her carseat and she doesn't sleep well at night either.

I have 2 infants...almost 6 months and a 9 month old. 6m baby wont sleep unless i bounce him and swaddle. He is bf to sleep at home and has always slept with parents.
9m baby went down great until she got sick. Now she sleeps with one parent, they alternate every other night.
Their tummies are full. They have dry diapers. And I know they are worn out because they play hard at playtime.
        Lordy, it is taxing me!
6m baby has been here since 9 and hasnt taken a nap yet!

I have had one. And it was a complete nightmare. She was my first infant and started at 12 weeks (she was also parttime). I was doing what I thought was best for everyone and letting her eat when she wanted and sleep when she wanted. Which was 2x/day for 20 minutes. This continued forever. When I finally broke down and tried to sleep train her, it really didn't work. When she was a year old, I told the parents if something didn't change she would have to go. They finally got on board, but she never became a good sleeper. At 19 mos, some days she only sleeps 30 minutes, usually now it is 1.5 hours (once). Tomorrow is her last day

My current infant is almost 6 mos old and just increased from 2 days to 3 days this week. I started sleep training him on Monday - TAKING ALL THE TIPS I HAVE LEARNED HERE! I am putting him on a schedule. Feeding him 45 minutes before he takes a nap. Putting him in his crib awake. Dark room, white noise, sleep sack, on his back. I do put his nuk in his mouth, but he screams when I walk away and it falls out, he is not able to get back in his mouth, so falls asleep without.

Monday - 30 minutes in am. 30 minutes in PM - I let him work it out in the afternoon, after 45 minutes he fell back asleep and slept another hour. Probably took 10 minutes for him to fall asleep each initial time.

Tuesday - 1 hour in am. 2 hours in PM. Took about 5 minutes for him to fall asleep each time.

Wednesday - 30 minutes in am(took him about 15 minutes to fall asleep) - he quietly fussed another 15, but not his full on cry. This afternoon, it took about 2 minutes for him to fall asleep and he has been sleeping an hour now.

I've always been a "meet your babies needs as they show cues" type of mother, but I can't do that with running a full daycare. I can't drop everything and feed the baby. It always seemed that the baby would want to eat, right when I was needing to serve lunch, or transition to outside, etc. I run my days with a flexible schedule, but when you have 7 hungry kids and you can either feed one or feed the other 6, sometimes the baby would have to cry. If I can get him on a predictable schedule, hopefully everyone will be happier

How long is he sleeping at night at home? I have a 10 mo old who wouldn't nap more than 20-30 min here from 3 mos on because he was sleeping 12-13 hours a night at home. When I pointed out that he's getting all the sleep he needs overnight they started putting him to bed later and he started sleeping a little longer.

I have one who just turned a year old. I've had him since he was 5 mos. He has never slept for me - not once, not even for 15 minutes. Doesn't sleep all that well at home either. I don't know how he doesn't just fall asleep from exhaustion. He's just getting to the point where he doesn't cry all day long. It hasn't been easy! I have no hints or strategies to offer. Just wanted to empathize a little.

He typically goes to sleep with mom and wakes with mom 9:30-10:00 pm til 5:30 am. She travels 45 minutes to me to get to work so has to get up early.

Nope; not ever. By the end of the week, I'm exhausted and ready for a nap even if he isn't!
