I had an infant out all last week with a "stomach bug" and he just started back today. I have another infant that is now out as well, but this dr said he has suspected Rotavirus. I thought kids got vaccinated to PREVENT this. My sanitation is impeccable but I don't use bleach. I use chemical free not toxic all natural cleaners. But this almost makes me want to switch. Any one experience this? Any tips? Im so paranoid now..

No tips except for get dr notes upon return and hand sanitizer. Everywhere.

The vaccination is relatively new... it's optional. When we pressed our pediatrician about it, he said they had one a while back but took it off the market because of the strong side effects. It was relatively new back in 2008 so we passed on it because he was 'iffy' about the current side effects (don't remember it exactly, but it sounded way worse then rotavirus'. He also said IF it were his child, he wouldn't. That sealed the deal for me.
In all of my years doing daycare, I had 1 DCG with rotavirus (2006), but the Dr. thinks she contracted it through a hotel pool. She was dropped off after a long weekend with parents vacation, I immediately noticed her being lethargic, she threw up once and I called parents to pick-up. She was hospitalized for a week, and came back about 3 days after that. It never spread, but I did use a bleach solution to clean up the mess.

Rotavirus is nasty stuff. All of my dck's except one are vaccinated against it. Of course THAT dcb got it and I spent a weekend cleaning my entire house. I was the only other one to get it. I have since got the vaccine, do NOT want a repeat. Worst stomach bug ever, although I didn't mind the 10lb weight loss, I did mind the 5 days of puking/pooping and feeling awful!
I hope your dck's are all better soon and nobody else catches it!Comment
