I don't care for tattoos, but my personal feelings are irrelevant.
I think if you act, dress and generally look professional, who cares? Now, if you are shlepping around in dirty or suggestive clothes and acting like a biker, the tats might be a problem....but since you are not, be proud of your tats.

I ride a motorcycle, so not bashing bikers!::

I DO think it does and can affect your business as many parents do not like tattoos or view them as appropriate.

I grew up in a time that tattoos were for "bad ass" people (LOL! ) and for people in the military.

Do I judge people for having tattoos. Yes. Sometimes I do. Obviously my judgment is NOT solely based on a tattoo and more so the overall package....kwim?

As a business owner, I would tread carefully when hiring someone with tattoos based on MY personal beliefs and my upbringing.

FWIW~ I do have several friends (both male and female) and a few family members who have tattoos and honestly, to each his own. I do make assumptions when I see a tattoo but it doesn't mean I base my relationships on whether someone does or doesn't have one.

I make judgments and assumptions on all sorts of first impressions but I am also mature enough and old enough to know to never judge a book by it's cover.

If you want one get one. If a family has an issue with it, like anything else we do in our personal lives, it really isn't their business and if it does bother them, they are free to find a tattoo-less provider.

        I don't want any.

I think a ton of them.....a whole arm sleeve, etc. might be a negative for some parents.

I think one or two that show is not a big deal.

I don't think most parents in my area would bat an eye at a tastefully done tattoo.

I have tattoos but they are covered all the time, mainly because of their position (upper back/shoulder) and I see nothing wrong with tattoos unless they are obviously offensive (like swastikas, gang symbols, foul language...). That said I do understand that no matter how much the world has changed there is still a stigma. This is my business and I'm not going to lose a good client because of a tattoo showing.

DH has many, nearly a full sleeve on one arm and one on his other forearm plus ones on both legs. Nothing offensive, mostly all bike (petal bikes, not motorcycle) related and a few from his punk rock days but those aren't visible thankfully. However if he's around during interviews or new parents I have the same rule his work does, cover them up. Currently I've been more relaxed with that rule because all my DCPs are laid back and have tattoos of their own but if I had a new DCP start he'd have to go back to cover up.

I have one on my upper back. I got it right after I turned 18. My dad didn't know I had it until the morning of my wedding at 20. I don't know that any of my dcp's have ever seen it. Dh has 3-all able to be covered. The dck's and parents have seen the one on his bicep (barbed wire), but not the one on his back or chest.

I personally wouldn't get anything large where it would be visible to anyone. That is just me. Would I take my children somewhere that someone had a lot of visible ones......depends on my gut feeling about the person. I try not to judge people by the way they dress, but it is hard. Someone could be dressed professionally and be the biggest "b" also.

I grew up with a tattoo artist, and I am covered in them. I also have five facial piercings. I don't know too many people nowadays that either a) don't have tattoos/piercings themselves or b) actually care if other people do. It's the norm these days. My tattoos/piercings have never negatively affected any of my jobs since I have had them (started tatts/rings at age 15). I also DON'T CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK! :: I live my life for me, not others. If someone wants to pass judgement, I'll pass it right back.

I have both, and as far as I know, it's never kept me from getting business. Most people don't even notice them.

                    To each their own!

I have a full back piece and it's never been a problem. As I said in the other thread if my tattoo is the defining factor in choosing me as a DCP or not then we're probably not a good fit anyway.

I don't wear pants when it's hot and I don't try to cover it.

ETA: I meant that as I wear shorts or capris when it's hot, not that I walk around half naked in the summer

I don't think it would affect your business at all.

I don't have any tattoos, but I do have my ears pierced, tongue, and nose. I never really thought about other peoples opinions.

I have a dolphin on my right shoulder blade. In the summers it would be really nice to wear a tank top but I'm too scared that someone will think it's unprofessional. So I suffer in silence. Maybe if I knew no parents were going to show up when we were outside I would shed a layer.

Honestly, As a parent, it would have affected my decision. I would not have chosen a provider with tattoos or piercings. So I guess in answer to your question, yes, it could affect you business.
