Do You Celebrate Holidays w/ Daycare Kids?

I'm curious how many providers celebrate holidays with their DK. For those of you that don't do you do things like pumpkin day in place of halloween, etc?

No, I don't. I give a gift for christmas and b-days, that they take home and open, but I don't celebrate holidays at daycare.

I do. I love celebrating with the kids and creating childhood memories. I have many from my childhood. My Mom would go nuts (still does), and as I was a teenager I remember thinking she was so incredibly tacky! I get it now, and have a high level of tackiness myself! We do decorations, songs, books, crafts and food to go along with whatever holiday we're celebrating. I think I love it as much as the kids!

Our holiday celebrations are discussed during the initial interview. I'm more than happy to celebrate holidays that are observed by others, but so far they're all in line with what we celebrate.

We do in a simple way.

We do a Fall Party in the Fall (in place of Halloween and Thanksgiving) that is a lot of fun. We do a Christmas party (with gifts). We do a Valentine's Day party. We do little stuff for St. Patrick's Day. We celebrate Easter and have an egg hunt. We do little stuff for 4th of July. We do a little celebration for birthdays.

Christ's birth and resurrection are a BIG DEAL here.

My center celebrates the "major" holidays: Valentine's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We always have a party for each except for Thanksgiving. We have a daycare wide parent luncheon as a way to say thanks for allowing us to be a blessing in their child's life. We usually get about 90% attendance and it gives us an opportunity to talk with the parents that we hardly see.

mostly just birthdays, with cupcakes, happy birthday song, and a small gift. I did do a Christmas party in 2011, but not in 2012 because we went on vacation. This year I will probably do a Christmas Party again. I recently had a family brunch on a Saturday morning, but it wasn't holiday related. It was a big hit, although apparently they thought I should have had a bloody-mary bar. ::

We do ! I love a theme - so I will look for any excuse to celebrate. We celebrate:

                - Valentines Day
                - St. Patrick's Day
                - Easter
                - Fourth of July
                - Halloween
                - Thanksgiving
                - Christmas
                - & any other holiday we can get away with.

We usually read books, and do crafts about that specific day.

On mothers day & fathers day, we make gifts to send home.

Kinda but not really. Since I am a secular school I don't like to get into the holidays too much but we do have a seasonal theme about 3 times per year. Like this week it's Spring. Around Thanksgiving we study Autumn, leaves, apples etc. Before Christmas it's a Winter theme with snowflakes, snowmen, candy cane crafts etc.
