    If I Had $600,000

    It was mentioned in another thread that some one had come into some money, about $600,000. I've been thinking/dreaming about it ever since. It isn't enough to retire on, for me at least, but it is enough to be life-changing.
    What would you do with $600,000?

    Pay off my house! Build an in ground swimming pool with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. College fund and lots and lots of travel. I want to show my kids the world

      I would pay off our house, my truck, the hubby's car, my student loans, travel and I'm sure I can find a few other things to do with it!

        I would donate $100,000 to the NICU my daughter is in.

        I would put away $75,000 in a high interest savings account for my daughter's future.

        I would put away $25,000 in a high interest savings account for each of my nieces and my nephew.

        I would pay off my mom's and mother-in-laws debts and pay their mortages for 1 year.

        I would build a small home for my small family.

        I would go on a 3 week vacation (destination to be determined) with hubby and daughter.

          Pay off the house and any other bills.

          Have the basement professionally finished so I can move dc down there (including separate entrance so there will be no dc in the house at all)

          Have the rest of the house professionally decorated/designed

          Inground pool/pave driveway

          Big Vacation

          Retirement/college savings

          Donating to some of my favorite charities (I do already but maybe a lump sum)

              I think I know who you are talking about! ::

              I would buy a house better suited for dc, put money away for the kids college, pay off my car, by dh a better car and adopt my cousins baby she doesn't want. The rest I would put into savings.

                I would first invest 500,000.00 into something (possibly property rentals) which would earn a great interest. Use 100,000.00 to pay off home and rebuild my daycare the way I want...large.

                I would use the interest each year to go on a couple vacations and try to save as much of the original 500,000.00 to be able to retire on.

                It's not really a lot of money when you think about it and if you spend it all, it would be gone in no time. My philosophy has always been to invest and use the interest to live off of.

                Since that amount probably wouldn't be enough to live on comfortably I'd still need my daycare.

                  Nice!!

                  200 to pay my house;

                  200 in my daughter's bank account;

                  With the other 200 I would buy an used cheap RV and travel all over the country with my husband and daughter until the money is over!

                    I'd pay off the house and all the bills, quit dc (I wouldn't need to make as much with out house payment,) go on a European vacation, and set up saving accounts for my boys.

                      It is far more than we have saved for retirement.

                      I would tell dh if he wants to retire go for it in 5 years. I would also tell him to go ahead and take summer layoffs at work.

                      not sure I could not work but I would find a way to work less. I would need to set aside money for 4 grandkids college and find away for the little cottage by the lake or river.

                      I think I could make it go a LONG way I got 30,000 from Daddy's estate laste year paid off all our CC debt, bought replacement windows for the house funded our emergency fund . Got to say life is MUCH easier when your only debt is the house. so yeah I think we could retire on 600,000 just not sure we would yet.
                      It:: will wait

                        First I would pay off my mortgage. Next add to our futures... college funds and retirement plans. Start a trust fund for my son for his possible future care.

                        I would up my donations to the causes that affect my children... Autism, Fetal Alcohol, Huntington's disease and Bipolar and I would give some to the church.

                        One can dream.

                          I would pay off my mortgage and my sister's mortgage. My 3 children are grown and on their own so I would pay off their current debts, maybe help them with down payments for homes. Probably either my husband or I could retire, he would probably love to stay home and do daycare with me ::

                          I make all of these plans in my mind, but the truth is that if it ever happened I'd probably have it all spent by sundown. No boob job though.
