    Scholastic Orders

We've been ordering from scholastic a lot lately and I've started to notice that in every order at least one book (3 in the last order) is "no longer available" and they sent a random replacement.

I'm actually fine with the replacements, as the ones I get are usually along similar "themes" but a few of my parents are starting to get annoyed when they get a random one nothing like what they ordered.

I checked to make sure they weren't always ordering off the clearance or last chance sections.

Does this repeatedly happen to anyone else? Personally I'll keep ordering, I love Scholastic and I understand they do a high volume of sales in schools, but I don't want my DCPs to get discouraged and stop!

This happened twice to my daughter last month at school. We also got a credit towards our next order though as an apology.

How do you hand out book orders to your parents?

It has happened here on occasion but very rarely and when it does happen, not only do I get a substitute book but I also get a voucher for $3 as a "sorry" so for me, it is a win-win.

I love Scholastic! We have been participating in book orders for years!

Usually the parents get $3 off coupon in addition to the $5 free book coupon they usually get with orders but one DCP in particular was getting frustrated that the books she wants aren't available.

I did just get her backordered items this morning and one isn't what she ordered but it's actually something I think DCB will enjoy more plus the item she ordered (some measuring with worms kit) was valued at 3.99 but the item they sent as a replacement (adding bears kit) is an 8.99 value! I'm definitely going to play this up so she'll keep ordering!

I was able to set mine up online, I submitted the form and then they emailed me to verify and get more information, took less than a day! But maybe I just got lucky because I've seen multiple people say they had difficulty with the online system.

are you sending in the order on time or waiting till near the next one comes out. the sooner you send the more likely they have it.

It has never happened to me either. I usually send out the catalog and then have the due date about 1 week later. I place the order within a couple of days. Maybe if you wait till th end of the month they run out??

I had this happen to me this month too. The substitute was not as cute as the book ordered.

I do this as well. DCPs get the order forms a day or so after I do and I give them til the following Friday (usually that's about a week and a half or so depending on when I get them) to complete their orders and then I log in and place the order the Saturday after the due date I give the parents.

Maybe I'll make sure its only one week and get the orders out at the end of the day. Thanks
