Update on potty training 3 1/2yo

    Back story-

Daycare Center and Family Home owners, Directors, Operators and Assistants should post and ask questions here.

They say the pediatrician, and were referred to a urologist. The urologist is concerned and wants to run some tests. Dcb will be out Friday as he has to have a catheter inserted and dye injected, they believe there is a problem with his ureters (too small) and possibly bladder!

Meanwhile his behavior has been wonderful since we are back in pullups. The accidents were causing him so much stress. He still poops on the toilet everyday, and pees atleast 4-6x, but is almost always leaking urine.

That's good news! It seemed to take a long time for him to be seen? The OP was back in January. Were they trying other things?

First of all, I think it's pretty upsetting that it took the parents that long to realize there was an issue and that YOU are the one who recognized it and had to suggest a doctor visit  I don't understand how parents aren't more in tune with their children.

I am, however, very pleased to hear he is more settled now that he's back in pull ups. I realize this might not be an ideal situation for you - dealing with the wet/leaky pull ups - but you should feel good knowing you are helping this child get help for what could be a very uncomfortable medical issue. I had very serious bladder issues as a child that caused me to have constant accidents and I felt MUCH better when my doctors were able to establish there was a medical problem and inform my confused/frustrated parents so they were aware it WAS indeed medical.

It took that long to get into a pediatric urologist, and then the testing had to be scheduled.

MissMuffet- I feel AWESOME about it. I would much rather assist dcb in changing himself discreetly, then see how sad he was daily!

I am glad that the parents are doing something about it.

I have been suggesting to my gf that they take her granddaughter to the dr for the same reason.

My anger with my gf's gd, is she just turned 8. This poor child has 1 - 2 accidents A DAY at school. She carries 2 changes of clothing in her backpack everyday. Parents are going through a nasty divorce, but this has been going on since she was potty trained at 3.

That poor thing! I can't believe the school hasn't said something!

From what dcd told me, if it wasn't as severe as it is, he could have gone his whole life just being embarassed! Dcm still seems pissy, but I think moreso that I identified it.
