    Is it Friday yet???

Well, my week is starting off great. One mom called, she's on her way to er with severe FLU sympyoms so 4 yo won't be here today...but she wants the SA girl to come after school! NO!!!!

Then my 3 yo girl gets here and mom tells me she had not gone to bed until 2 am so she wanted to lay her down so she could go back to sleep. So at first she proceeded to attemtp to put this girl who will be 4 in May into a pack n play which I had just gotten out of storage for a 1 yo who will be starting next week. I had taken the quilted cover out to wash so there was no covering on the pad so I told them they could not use that.

Then mom went all the way across my daycare room and got a nap mat, blanket and pillow out to lie her down. I told mom that she probably wouldn't want to lie down because once she gets here she just wants to play...which is exactly what happened.

The worst part of all this is that mom is a heavy smoker. Every day when dcg comes I spray her coat down with lysol to cover the smell, so mom was bringing this horrid odor all the way into my daycare smelling up the entire room.

And to top it all off with this family. They did not pay me Friday and only brought half of it this morning...because they didn't have time to go to the bank this morning.

I'm thinking pretty seriously about terming this family...but I love the little girl so much!!!

I'm in a great mood this Monday morning, but I've been open one hour and it's already been a doozy!

Today will be the last day for a DCB I love that's leaving suddenly and unexpectedly.

Also, I just had to enforce my sick policy for the first time and immediately call a parent to pick up DCK. DCK was dropped off with severe diarhea! I will say the parent was very apologetic, and got here very quickly.

Also that same DCK didn't arrive with payment at drop off but said the other parent would be bringing it at pick up, which I would let slide. But now that same parent had to come back and pick up.... no payment today. So I have to decide if I'm going to enforce the late fee or not! Ah!

Why did you accept only half of the payment this morning and take her into care?

Make them stick to your rules!

I know, I know about accepting half the payment. I don't have anything specific in my policy about that yet, but that is changing. I just handed out letters this morning to let parents know I am updating my policy and will be strictly enforcing it. I've only just gotten full and after 20 years of not doing daycare, I'd forgotten some of the issues from the previous time which I hadn't added into my policy this time. It's all slowly coming back to me.

However, I am having issues this time around that I NEVER had 20 years ago. Such irresponsible parents these days...not all, but sure seems I've got them all.
