    New Child Interview

I had an interview for a 2 yr old DCG yesterday. Her parents are friends of my daughters. Me and the Mother got along well but the WHOLE time they were here the little girl just ran around dumping toys. She does not listen to her Mother at all and that bothered me. I talked to my daughter and she said she has noticed the same thing.

The children I care for now have all been with me from infancy so they grew up with my way of doing things from the start. They know to NOT dump the bins and to put toys away in their spots before playing with another toy. I am concerned how hard it will be to transition this new child to my way of doing things. Any suggestions???

I have not had too much trouble with kids once they are coming and the rules and expectations are explained. They usually do a good job following the other kids' lead!

My experience is they will act way different for a parent than they do for me. That said the two year olds I have had start take a little more time because they do like to dump if they are young 2's. I just keep working on it and will have lots of self contained toys without pieces.

I hope things go smoothly for you.
