    Super Silliness

What do you do with kids who act excessively silly?

I have a bunch of boys who act so silly all the time and its hard to get much done with them. They touch each other all the time, laugh continuously, screech and squeal, talk in high pitched silly voices....all the time.

We try and separate them, but they are on a mission all day to get back near each other and be silly. We let them do it as much as possible but sometimes its just not appropriate, at circle time, lunch, rest time etc...

Ideas? Its about 4 main ringleaders, but it can be as many as 8 if they are successful in getting their friends to join in.

    Thanks.

I have 2 like this and honestly? I ignore it unless:
    1. It is screechy sounding. I will say, "You are hurting my ears, please stop!"
    2. We are doing an activity (writing/art/math/Circle Time). If it continues after I ask them to stop then I will move them to an area that isn't next to all of the other children for them to do their work. They do not like that at all.

See if you can't get their peers to start "thinking" it's annoying by coaching them. "OUCH! That REALLY hurts my ears. Does it hurt your ears, DCK?" "Yeah, it hurts my ears!" "Tell screeching DCK to please stop!"

For the record, I find it really annoying. Their parents find it absolutely charming and adorable.

Maybe they aren't being stimulated enough. When the kids act rowdy I stop what we are doing and do something physical, if they get loud we stop what we are doing and do a loud activity ... it helps them get it out of their system.

I offer them an activity where the activity that they want to do is appropriate and remind them that there are certain time that these actions are appropriate and other times they are not.

For example my DCK's LOVE the song "Listen & Move" by Raffi. They walk, run, hop, gallop, ski and tiptoe in a circle while laughing hysterically. We do it once sometimes 2 times and then get back to what we were doing before. It seems to let them get the sillies out
