    Just Lovely

sewer backed up Sunday and DH fixed it...... yeah right... came down this morning and it was backed up in the daycare kitchen sink...

Waiting for a plumber to get here now. water is down and sink has been sanitized. Guess lunch will be made up in our family kitchen unless he gets here soon.

    There goes the extra money.

Yikes! I had that happen several times before we finally discovered a HUGE root ball blocking our septic tank. All I can say is Y~U~C~K!

    Good luck!

It's happened to my SIL... She worked with insurance and her house looks awesome now!! They had to refinish her hardwood floors, new carpet for the basement, replace drywall -- all covered after deductible. Check with your home insurance to see what's covered... At least you might get some nice home upgrades out of the deal?

We just went thru that at our house! Backed up after baths last week, DH took the next day off to rent the power auger, thought he got all the roots and found out Sunday morning he didn't. He had to rent the auger again. He said he pulled out a mass of tree roots as wide as a paint can! It's happening more frequently now, so we might look into trenchless pipe relining.

I know how much it stinks to have drain problems! Good luck!

well $120 later it is not fixed and may be worse. He could get it no better and while he was working it backed up into the basement bathroom.

He suggested it may be time to dig it up and fix it..... I guess we may need to get an estimate for that because it may be in our future... soon. I have the dishwasher running now and it is draining fine but I had the kids NOT flush before they napped. all boys so I will do that in a bit.

I have no idea what to do now.

Yikes that stinks. Hopefully it won't be too much but if you have to dig it out I'm thinking that it'll probably be a pretty penny.

If your plumber said that it will "may" be time to dig it up and fix it then perhaps you call around and have someone else look at it? Someone that can tell you what the problem really is? I'd hate for you to dig stuff out and then have someone tell you that the problem could've been fixed without digging it up .

$120 and it's still not fixed??? How frustrating! Did he use a video camera to see where the problem is? Our old plumber said it was $200 just to send the camera down, but it might be worth it if it's still not fixed.

In case you are interested, here's a link about relining pipes. It's suppose to be less disruptive, but not sure how much cheaper or if it'll solve your problem. I'm not sure if it'll take you right to the segment or not. If it doesn't, you can click on "4" for the scene selection.

Armed with the right tools and techniques, here’s how You Can unclog a sink or toilet easily without having to call in a pro.

You might start trying rock salt or copper sulfate from here on out as a preventative measure.

I remember seeing that. My guess it will be another 5 years until they do that in small town midwest.
