    One Kiddo Today - VENT/RANT!!!

I only have one dck today, because the schools are closed for a snow day. She is driving my NUTS!!!!!! She is an only child, and she is here with my two sons (she lives next door, so she knows them very well). Every time I go anywhere, there she is. Staring at me. Waiting for me to entertain her. She is so flipping aggravating! Just GO PLAY!!!!! We are in my upstairs, and we never come up here with dcks. All she ever wants is to play up here...now that she has it, she just wants me to comment on every last blessed thing she is doing. I refuse to applaud the child every time she does something. Seriously, yes, I saw you pick up the doll. I am not going to tell you that I am impressed. And of COURSE...her mother is now five minutes late picking her up. Just get her and let my day be over!!!!!!!!!

This...is my kids! I dont understand! I have new activity "invitations" regularly and will give them educational things to do throughout the day...and thats just to get them to leave me alone for five seconds....as soon as he gets done or bored with anything my son will be back in my face either staring at me...or telling me what toys he is playi g with (as if i cant see) or just asking for me to get toys out thqt like literally just got put up due to lack of use (rotation). If anybody knows how to curb this behavior...i wanna know. None of my daycare kids act like this. I tell him to go play and by the end of the day im so tired of tryi g to redirect him...i feel like im losing my mind.

I have had many dcks like this and I do feel for you. That is why I am in complete awe of the one dck who is left here today. I can give this boy a handful of anything and he can entertain himself for hours. Right now he has spent the last half hour with 4 large boxes and 2 chairs. Shacking, counting, lining up, driving, sitting in them, pushing them, pulling them...just amazing. I pray he never loses this "skill".
I hope your dcks mom shows up soon and you can have the rest of the day not entertaining anyone.

I feel ya! I have a DCG just like this! She can do nothing on her own or without constant praise. It drives me crazy! DCG (4yrs) is 1 or 2 days a week (Fridays & every other Thurs) and I seriously dread those days all week long!! Plus this DCG is constantly asking "what?" even if she knows what I just said. Like I'll ask her to put her shoes on and the whole time she's doing it all I hear is "what?.... What?... WHAT?" until I repeat what I said!

Lol ... this is why I NEVER say "Great job" and such . Some kids get used to it and expect to be praised for every little thing that they do, even the stuff that are supposed to be doing. Instead I just say something like "you did it" "I saw you" "I know" etc. and then redirect the child. It could also be her temperament and personality type. Some kids just seem to need that extra reinforcement. Drives me bonkers sometimes too .
