I have always been liscensed through the military so they advertised for me, but now I am trying to get my daycare set up through the state and I have no clue where to advertise and get clients?!? How do you guys get your clients? I only like to care for 2 or 3 children at the most so I only need a few!

If you are licensed through the state, your state probably has a listing. You are more than likely automatically added to that list once you are licensed.
You could also get listed with your local referral agency. Free to do so here.

I advertised in Facebook groups (got a couple of clients this way), through post card mailings from vistaprint.com (got many this way), on Craigslist (have never had even 1 inquiry), door hangers (never had any inquiries), word of mouth (got a couple of clients this way), and just being listed on the state website (got inquiries this way).- Flag

I use Craigslist also and I have stayed full or really close to full with it. I have placed an ad for a very random part time spot and still had people beating my door down. To the point of who got their deposit to my home first.
Crazy, but there is a huge need for affordable childcare that is not center based in my town. I have been open since Jan. and I beat myself up that I did not do this sooner.HomeMADE- Flag

Re:
There are several Facebook groups in my area that are for the buying and selling of children's items. I made a Facebook page for my daycare and always cut and paste the link to advertise on the Facebook groups. I also have had good luck with craigslist. When I lived in a more rural area, I made signs and hung them up around town a lot.- Flag
