    Naptime issues

dcg is 2yrs 8m, been here for 8 months. WONDERFUL until last week, I have zero other issues.

Last week she started scooting off of her mat, touching other kids, making noise, that sort of thing. I just redirected her back to her mat and moved her out of reach of everyone but still in the nap room. It is now escalating into full out tantrums, throwing her pillow and blanket, mat, kicking and thrashing around and ruined nap yesterday. Today I told dcg that as long as she stayed on her mat and was quiet, she could stay next to her friend. I always stay in the nap room until everyone is asleep, so that I can instantly redirect the ones who take longer to settle down and not disrupt my great nappers. Well, that didn't happen, it lasted two minutes before she was throwing things. I moved her back into the playroom and she was out within 5 minutes, and now I am tiptoeing around and can't even clean up. I CANNOT have her sleeping out here.

I spoke to Mom and we are both in agreement that she needs a nap, no matter what as she is MISERABLE at home and fell asleep last night at 7 after whining for over an hour (and she is a VERY non whiny child).

    HELP!

I am having a similar issue with my DC boy (he'll be 3 at the end of June). In my case he's never been a great napper, but lately he's taking to talking loudly, getting up, etc. And he NEEDS a nap or it's awful...After many firm redirections and a stern "friends are sleeping!" with no results (he just doesn't care) I had to get serious. So instead of going back and forth and not getting anything accomplished, I took him out of bed, sat him at the table - no toys, books, etc. I didn't turn on lights or tv. I treated it like a night waking and didn't talk or even make eye contact. I cleaned the kitchen, did some papework. When he wanted to get down I did say "shh, no, it's quiet time" in a quiet whisper. After I finished my chores I would ask him if he was ready to go to bed. At that point, he had settled down and wanted to go to bed.
I sometimes think they need to know that they are not missing out on fun when they nap! Good luck!

Hopefully having moved her out of the room today and making her sleep "all alone" "not with her friends" will make it so that in the future you will not have an issue. Hopefully, just the threat of being removed will make her stop. I've had to do this a few times with a couple of mine, but they learned quick.
