    Ikea :)

Ok, so since we're in a tight financial situation while my husband is in limbo with a job (losing it in a month, hasn't had any successful interviews yet...) and I'm trying to start up my daycare, my wonderful mother has decided to take me to Ikea on Friday for some daycare shopping!! (It's "loan" money, but she said that I don't have to worry about paying her back for a while, so I'm not thinking of it as a loan right now, haha). It'll just be a couple hundred dollars.

I'm looking at the table that has the red and blue adjustable legs ... but are there any other ideas on what I can/should get? Shelving, storage, kid dishes, stuff like that? Have you bought something from there and been throroughly disappointed in the that particular item? I haven't been in an Ikea in about 4 years. Do they have coupons online or anything?

    Thanks for any help!

I have the kids line of dishes, plates bowls cups silver wear. That are great. I have not had any issues with them. Plus they are dish washable.

I just bought the little white table with 2 chairs. So far so good. It's very sturdy. If I needed a larger table I would have gotten the one with colored legs.

I also have the whole kind of play dish and pans. Love them!

I have the ikea high chair the $20 ones they are great I have the kritter chairs love them and the stools also. I have the folding changing table which is great so I can just fold it up when I don't need it. I have the storage units that the bins slide in and out of both in my daycare and kids rooms they are very good quality the kids stand on the bins. I also have a few of the area rugs they hold up great I just throw them in the wash on Fridays. I love their kids dishes and bibs also.

The dollar tree is also a great place for bins art supplies etc.

Folding changing table - is this sturdy? I've been looking at this but haven't made the plunge. Wondering if it would fit in a standard bathtub? (Is that a weird question!)

I honestly love my Ikea stuff. I have the trofast storage, tall and tiered. I have the expedit shelves, so versatile, and very sturdy as a room divider (2x4). High chairs clean up easily. Love their bibs, both with arms and without.

Yes, I LOVE Dollar Tree - I got a bunch of my posters and stuff from there, and will be heading back there for arts/crafts supplies.

I wasn't planning on looking for a changing table I was just going to use a pad on the floor, but a FOLDING one? THat sounds like a great idea!! Does it have a pad in it that is wipeable? Is it sturdy enough for toddlers, too?

Yes it is sturdy I have the foam mats under it and have no problem. I think it would fit inside a standard bathtube I will check for you when the kids are done napping.

Just wondering if there were any other suggestions? - we're going today

I'm planning on checking out the Trofast storage systems ... they just seem so deep, like they would be taking up too much room. I'm also going to check out that folding changing table ... I'm just concerned about it for 2-3 year olds who still need their diapers changed.

And I'm not sure about which chairs go with the table ... but I hear they have them all set up anyways, so I can check them out. And I'll have my kids with me (2 and 3.5) so they can test things out for kid use .

Easel - $15 bucks, super sturdy
Chalk - for easel - super cheap
Paper - although you don't want for children under 4... funner than toliet paper to unroll!

Trofast storage... just make sure you add it up in your head with all the storage buckets, very sturdy I have 2 of them =)

                      Tableware! Very sturdy, dishwasher acceptable

I like the pop-up hamper for balls =)

I also like the frames for artwork. The Dollar store is good for education posters, but these frames are super cute. Ours aren't hanging up yet since we're still working on finishing the basement ceiling and are going to re-paint soon, but I have them on the ledge leading to the playroom... every affordable

SO.MUCH.FUN! I got a table, chairs, a couple of the Trofast storage things (just the low ones) and bins, a shoe rack/bench for the entry (it was on sale with the Ikea Family program! wahoo!), the circus tent looking bed canopy to hang over the kitchen/dramatic play area, some reading cushions and a rug for in the reading area ... and some other odds and ends for decorations. I'm super excited to get it all set up now!!

I know I am a little too late but I just bought the sun light in the children's section and I was really disappointed... the light is not that bright at all, it has a very low wattage bulb, I thought it was a wall light but it's more like a night light... it would be ok for their sleeping area I guess

I love the easels just don't leave them outside in the sun/rain

sounds like you got a lot of goodies!
