    Warning...Scam. Everyone Needs To Read This

    I received a text a little while ago that read:
    Hi. I am seeking a reliable trustworthy sitter with an open schedule to care for my 2 girls Rebeca which is 4 yrs old and joy is 2yrs. I am from Singapore and saw your add on Craigslist as a very good care giver. Will be in state for an assignment from our office (Alda Global Resources Pte Ltd) and am looking for someone who can care for my girl during the period from Mondaythrough Friday. I will appreciate it if the girls is being taking care of.

    I advertise on Craigslist and I do have my phone number on there. When I received this text I was immediately leary as I live in a very small community in Michigan. I wondered how they could know where I live, because MI is a large area and we aren't near any bigger cities where someone would come for this type of 'assignment'.

    So I started a search online regarding the complany this person was supposed to be working with and found some posts on Sittercity where others have received this very similar message.

    Apparently they contact you and request your bank info so they can deposit the money into your account ahead of time for childcare costs.

    So, the first thing I'm doing is taking my phone number off Craigslist. I hate thinking there are so many scammers out there...

    Yes this is a classic scam sometimes they send a check but is it for more than you will charge. they then need you to wire the extra to someone else. The myster shopper is also the same scam. Yo wire the money and 2 weeks later the bank finds the first check as fake and you sent you OWN money to someone.
    It:: will wait

              I recall reading that older white, college educated men are prime targets for scammers. The reason was that the men feel that there was no possible way someone could be scamming them, or that they were too smart to be scammed.

                  Ugh, these make me so mad! I got some of those from when I was selling baby clothes on there. I do not have my phone number on my craigslist ad for daycare because of that.

                    Sometimes when I bored, I like to write them and start off like I fell for it, then change my tone and wish them luck elsewhere.

                      I have my number on there and they never call, only email. In fact, a few times I advised, "call me and we can discuss rates and policies,".....no response. I do get tired of them though..

                        This was the first time I received anything from anyone like that. I wasn't sure yesterday when I first got it and text back for them to call me. THEN I did the research because it just didn't sound right.

                        So today I got another text saying they would have to buy an international calling card in order to call and preferred to text. I'm not too smarts in this area, but wouldn't they have to have an international calling card to 'text' from their phone as well???

                        I did a reverse search on the number and it came up to Hollywood FL. So I sent another text back to them asking if they would like me to add them to the list of known scammers, or should I just call the police.

                        Probably won't be hearing from that particular group any more.
