Very close but this is how mine goes
--are you eating a granola bar?
        --are you drinking water?
        --are you holding the baby?
        --are you feeding the baby?
My question is what do you think I am doing.

          OP - YES!!!!

I had a sore throat last week so I would have cough drops. All.day.long. "Ms. K, what you have in your mouth?" and my favorite "let me see!"

Mine is "what is that", "what are you doing" - all day long.

My answer is to point and say "toys".

Ha! My middle son could hear the cookie jar lid no matter how quiet you tried to be. I remember watching my BIL trying to replace it without being caught. Hilarious.

And yes I have had kids who narrate my life to me. It comes in handy at Christmas because the parents seem to know I like tea.

                  Here is my dcg

                  * note that this is the same conversation we have had every day this week, almost word for word.

                  - dcg: Is that a birdhouse?
                  - me: Yes
                  - dcg:Why is it inside?
                  - me: The string broke.
                  - dcg: Why the string broke
                  - me: The string was old...

                  You get the idea.

The problem is, EVERY conversation with this child is the same. It is like she has Pre-planned conversations in her head that need to go a certain way.

So today, when she asked 'Is that a birdhouse?', I said, 'No, it is a dog house'. She just stared at me. Her little brother said, 'Noooooo, you are just kidding!'

I ask, "Am I?" or "What AM I doing?" It seems to be infecting my 4-year-olds in a terrible way.

LOL we have nicknamed it the Captain Obvious Stage. I have survived several. Reminds me that I should enjoy that all my current ones are just babblers or one-worders for now

I have a little girl here who I actually sometimes have to avoid talking to first thing in the morning beyond, "Good Morning." From the second you talk about anything, with anyone, she is there like a steam roller, asking obvious questions and then standing there and just staring at me. and God FORBID another child gets even a second of attention. She is interrupting, steam rolling, and chatting about herself. Much like her parents!

Today, she even asked me what I was typing! Argh!!!! Leave me ALONE for 2 seconds! Play with toys and kids!!!!!!
