Does After School Care Equates To Child Care & Involves The Same Licensing?

I was thinking about starting an after school center or program but wanted to know if I would have to go through the same licensing as a child care center? I am currently a certified school teacher and thinking about setting up a center. Also, is it best to get a director's license?

Depends on your state's rules and policies. Each state has their own set of guidelines.

In Oklahoma, for example, if you care for children for under 15 (??) hours a week then you do not have to be licensed. A before and after care program, might be able to fit into those hours. So if there is a time limit - you might be able to work that angle if you are looking to not be licensed.
