    Sippy Cup

I have a child turning 1 next week. He absolutely refuses to use a sippy cup. He also is on table foods. I don't think he eats enough because he wants the bottle. I'm having a difficult time transitioning him. Mom wants to switch from formula to milk next week and all i can think about is how much milk this child is going to expect all day since he drinks 8oz at a time. Unfortunately I have 3 that are turning 1 this month and I am sweating the change from formula to milk all at once.

How do you guys handle the transitioning stage? Moms were bringing yogurts and baby food ect: they are all wanting to change at the same time. To me supplying everything but they are not all eating at the same levels either. The girl I have still gags on every single thing even though she's been working on table foods since 6 mos. she refuses a lot of fruits gags on bread and cereal. It's very hard to fill these kids up.

The third one was like a champ and takes a sippy.

I have three others that are older and eat sandwiches, chicken, ect. I'm afraid of having to run a restaurant here to accommodate everyone's eating levels.

just keep offering the sippy cup, they will get it eventually. as for food try soft food like, pastas, applesauce, bananas, avocados, peas, eggs, cooked beans, shredder chicken/meats, flour tortillas, mashed potatoes, etc.
if the are hungry they will learn to eat what is offered

If you do not provide baby food then that is the criteria. You fix one meal and supplement it with the baby food they send until the child can eat all table food. Switching to milk AND switching to sippy cup is 2 different things.

You tell parents you will supply milk at meals and a serving is 5 ounces. Plus you will transition to sippy cup. If they want the child to also have milk in a bottle they supple those bottles of milk.

Yeah, I basically supply breakfast until 8:30am, lunch and afternoon snack. They get 1 cup of milk (which does equal out to about 5 oz each time) at both breakfast and lunch and water any other time of the day.

These are the first parents I've had transitioning. (I've only had my daycare open for a year.) By the way they are talking they want to go cold turkey but these not all of kids are ready.... I think they feel like once they are off formula they will be nixing the baby food as well and it's up to me to sort out how they eat since they are all on table food.

The girl still gags on everything she puts in her mouth. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to get mom to understand she's a little behind in her eating skills. She has acid reflux real bad and still spits up everywhere. Never grew out of it. Mom says she wasn't like that until she stopped breast feeding and put her on formula. So she can't wait to put her on milk "next week".

I need to write something up somehow to give each one of them of how I will be proceeding with this I guess. I did have unwritten limitations regarding how I did have food and drinks but it wasn't something I ever went over with any of the parents...so that I'm not feeding kids all day. So I'm hoping that it's not going to tick anyone off by throwing it on the table now.

started when she went on formula ???? expect it t o be much worse switching to milk. lactose free milk might be a solution. It does not sound like acid reflux to be but a milk allergy or lactose sensitivity.

I would provide the milk and blend up the regular food to a consistency they can handle. It's just a few months hopefully
