    Flipping Boots!

I have a dc boy who HATES his boots. He has complained about them since mom started having him wear them at the beginning of the winter. He refuses to put them on himself (even if I open them and he only has to slide them on) once they are on he is fine, although he still says he prefers his sneakers (which he does put on himself). The problem is I am getting 5 kids ready each day to get out the door and he refuses and screams and cries because I won't put them on for him. I have told mom that he doesn't like the boots but basically they are Land's End hand me downs and she said he needs to deal...he does tend to be a fussier kid and I think she's trying to nip it in the bud. Last week he chose to sit on the front stoop crying and screaming rather than put the boots on to join us. Today he once again chose to sit out, until one of the older school agers put his boots on for him - then he was running around happy as a clam

Bottom line, I am so OVER these darn boots and the DRAMA. I want to tell mom today that from now on he needs to have rain boots or shoes because I can't have the screaming every time we go outside. I'm just at a loss for how to say it.

    Keep it simple:

"I think Little Johnny's boots are the cutest, but I am going to request that you bring a pair of play shoes that he is willing to put on when we go outdoors. It has become frustrating to him and a distraction to the rest of the class when it is time to put them on. If you'd like, you can even leave a pair here just for recess. Thank you SO much for understanding." BOOM! ::

maybe they really don't fit. my ds has feet that they do tend to go inward, well you know those black rubber boots (like country style farming boots) well the way they are designed they rub the front of feet. At first I told him to **** it up, but he refused to put them on and when I started to really look at them I figured they were hurting them. So I bought him a wide pair and now I have no problems with him (oh he's 10 now) I would request another pair of shows.

It's done. My reluctance was in part because I had already tried to mention in a round about way that the boots were not working that she might take offense when I had to put my foot down. She seemed fine. And if not at least I won't have to deal with them::
