I am using one for the training of my 2 year old ONLY because it plays a song and sometimes when they first start they only have a tiny bit to go- this way I can tell that she went (I do a reward for my girls). Once she gets into it, it's onto the toilet.
NOW for daycare I will not use them- I don't feel I need to spend my time helping to train them AND clean it up. Plus I think it's grossI haven't had the situation yet, but one DCM has been talking about potty training her 19 month old boy for about 3 months now. I KNOW he's not ready yet but she's already told me they got him a potty chair a while ago. Luckily I know she's very understanding and go-with-the-flow, so when I tell her he needs to be established and using ht actual toilet I don't think there will be any problem.

Nooo! The one time I ever allowed a parent to bring in a potty chair, it was absolutely disgusting. Poo, pee, dirt, crayon...ugh. I bagged the thing up, sent it back and said I found out we can only use toilets that flush (a policy I made up on the spot).- Flag

No potty chairs here! The state requires one for each child if you use them (no idea on the thinking behind THAT one) and I have 16 kids at a time, with several potty training. I didn't use them with my own kids either as they often have to be RE-trained to use the big toilet. I use a step stool and a fold down kid seat.- Flag

I had a DCM who brought one after I told her I had one here. When she brought it, it was, all wrapped up in plastic sacks. After handing it to me, she told me that she hasn't started at home (son was 3.5!) and that the chair needed to be cleaned.
When I looked at it, it had poop dried in it! Disgusting. That was his last day in my home.- Flag
