DCB Cries Every Time I Scold DS

DCB is 9 months old, DS is 20 months. Every time I have to tell DS no, or remind him about being gentle, or whatever (so, you know, approximately 120 times a day), DCB cries.

It's frustrating and ridiculous because I always scold DS by starting with his name...and half the time I'm not even looking near DCB because they are in totally different places. It's getting to where all I do is say DS's name and DCB howls.

Ha, not hardly! Usually I don't scold/correct him loud at all! Unless it's noisy and I need to get his attention. It can something as simple as, in a calm, even tone, "DS, remember gentle with the kitty!" and dcb howls. Or "Ouch! DS, no hit! That hurts!" where it's more firm than anything else.

And that's why dcb's reaction baffles me so much. I'm not yelling, or screaming (well not usually...and if I do yell it's more an "across a noisy room" one than a mean one, iykwim).

I hope you know I was just teasing. I have no advice, so I have to give a smart answer...
