    Food Pop Quiz!!

Do you eat the same thing the DCKs eat or do you sneak something else when they aren't looking? I secretly have Pepsi Max & Doritos at naptime occasionally. Today it's chocolate. I earned it!!!

No I do not eat the same thing as the DCK's. (Sometimes but rarely)

My DH comes in and helps me with lunch prep and serving every day. After the kids are fed and put down for rest time, DH and I enjoy a quiet lunch to ourselves.

My little piece of heaven each afternoon.

Oh, and when I want a Diet Coke and a special treat, I never hide it from the DCK's. I just tell them I am an adult and can do what I want when I want. If they want that too, they will have to grow up and get their own jobs! ::

Yes I eat the same snacks/meals as the dck. The only thing I don't have is the milk. I basically drink pop all day and none of the kids say anything. They have their drink (water/milk) and I have mine (pop)

At nap/rest time I break into my super secret stash of Pringles, chocolate, candy, etc and munch while I clean up lunch.

My dck all know where it is ("that's Ms ***'s special cupboard and only she can open it") but *shrugs* I tell em that anything from my special cupboard can only be eaten by me. It's a rule ::

Though one of my dcp suprised me and refilled the cupboard w/o me knowing about it!

I can't eat a lot of what i serve the dcks (though someday I'd prefer to feed all of them the same way I eat, when I can afford it) so i eat different stuff at different times. And I frequently eat treats for me in front of them, usually while they are eating (they had crackers and cheese and apples for snack, and I grab a single piece of chocolate, or something) and if they ask about it, I explain that I'm a grown-up and I get to eat grown-up food.

and sometimes, when they don't make a fuss, i will slip each of them a piece of my chocolate or two skittles each or something.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Well, before I was pregnant I usually just ate what they did, but now that I'm 37 weeks pregnant, I eat my own meals. Sometimes what sounds good when I'm making it for the kids, will not sound or smell good by the time I serve it. The kids had a hard time adjusting to that, but I just tell them they need to learn that they don't always get what I have or what mommy or daddy have. I've had parents tell me that they've seen a change in their children begging them at home for whatever they are eating. So I must have done something right!

I could never eat anything in front of the kids that I wouldn't allow them to have...same as dck bringing food in when the other kids don't have the same thing. I have it in my policy, no outside foods.

I once had a dck show up with an ice cream cone...just not fair to have something like that in front of little kids who don't understand 'why' they can't have the same thing.

I know even as an adult, if I see someone eat some 'goodies' I feel a little...not necessarily jealousy, but a desire to have the same thing because it just looks so good, so I couldn't put a kid into that type of situation.

Not saying I don't eat things I don't allow the kids to have, I just never let them see me do it...either grabbing a bite here and there when preparing meals, or at naptime.

Otherwise, I eat the same thing as they do.

I drink both coffee and diet soda in front of my daycare kids and they obviously aren't allowed to have any, but I don't make any effort to hide it. Otherwise I pretty much eat what they do (like Trummy I don't do the milk thing though). It helps that a lot of what I make isn't catered specifically to kids per say. I cook the exact same as I do for my family regardless of the kids in my care and as a result I say can lay claim to their well developed and quite sophisticated palates

I'm also a gum chewer during the day. When kids first start they ask me about having some too but redirecting works well.

I don't believe kids and adults should have the same rules and it should be taught early that just because someone has something doesn't mean everyone should. I'm not a Bible thumper by any means but do teach my kids and the kids in my care in the spirit of the 10 commandments. Number 10 - Thou shall not covet. You be happy with you and what you have. For kids this usually means wanting is fine but throwing a fit about it isn't. Same applies everywhere so why not at daycare? Adults drive and kids can't. We enjoy a beer or glass of wine in front of our kids even though they can't partake. If they go to a friends house and they have a boat load more toys that doesn't mean we should take them on a shopping spree to even the score. Just because Johnny see's Janes mom give her a ****er while they're shopping, or lets her pick three candy bars at the checkout lane doesn't mean he has to have and do the same. KWIM?

I don't eat anything the kids eat. It's never really been an issue either. Once in a great while a new child might ask what I'm eating-and I'll tell them it's my snack/lunch/whatever. It's not like I'm eating something they really really want (like an ice cream cone) and flaunting it in front of them-that would be mean.
All the kids know that I drink Diet Coke-and so do all the parents
Once in a while if I have a stash of a favorite candy I might give them each one piece-which benefits me because there have been times a parent has shown up with a box of my favorites saying "dcb saw this box in the store and said it's your favorite candy, so we picked up a box for you"!happyface

(Not that that's the reason I share the treat-it just ended up happening a couple of times)

I eat veggies and fruit with the kids. They all believe that veggies and fruit are my favorite things to eat in the world. Though that may not be far from the truth it's not totally true

I never feel bad when I eat something else in front of them but we usually don't have any junk in the house so what I'm eating usually doesn't look appetizing to them LOL! ::

I eat the same thing they eat for lunch and that is probably why I battle with my weight. Today we are having pork chops, brown rice and a spring mix salad. I don't need to eat a full meal like that but no matter how many times I tell myself I will just have soup when they are napping I still make myself up a plate and eat with them.

I only drink green tea and water so I don't bother hiding that from them.

I do eat sometimes what they eat, usually I cook in the morning and I cook enough for the kids and my family, so when lunch is done I will put away the rest in fridge and when DH gets home we heat it up and eat our dinner, it saves me time because I don't like to cook so that way i only do it once a day. Because of that same reason of me not liking to cook, sometimes I will just make for them something easy like a sandwich with salad and fruit and then make something diff for my family. As for snacks, I usually don't eat what they have, what I do is drink a cup of coffee while they snack, don't hide it from them, on the contrary, let the even touch my cup so they can feel the difference between my hot cup of coffee and their cold cup of milk

I do and I don't. Depends if I'm hungry at the time or if the babies are not wanting to be fed. I do drink my pop or coffee during the day and they see it and have never asked about it or for it. I do have a chocolate stash that I sneak every once in a while, but usually it is just a piece so by the time I turn around from the stash I am already chewing and they have no idea it's MY chocolate
