    Infants and self soothing

I have a 6 mnth old that does not self sooth at all. I am having issues at nap because he loses the paci and he cannot put himself back to sleep. I tried putting him down this morning without it. He is tired has been rubbing eyes etc diaper is fine and he is not hungry he has been in there screaming for 30 miins now he is not crying it is scream I have music on how long should this take to break the paci at nap time.

Mom gets up all night with him at home anytime he spits it out so she will not be any help in breaking it I just can't stop doing activites with the other children everytime he spits it out.

You can either go hard-core without the paci, which will probably take a while because he's getting it at home. You could also try showing him how to **** his thumb instead. Maybe mom doesn't want that, though?

Or, for a time, hand it to him (don't stick it in his mouth) when he is playing. Like, if he's sitting in a high chair or an exersaucer. Then, he'll learn to pick it up and get it into his mouth. Once he's got that down, you can limit it to nap again. Maybe even put it on a pacifier strap so he has it all the time.

We used to "sprinkle" several in my son's crib when he was quite young. By 3 or 4 months he could find them on this own. He was off of it by 10 months though because he got a cold and couldn't **** on it.

My other 3 had them just to sleep until about 2.
