Transitions...Sippy Cup Question

Hello all,

Question-what is a good transition sippy cup to start with for a 11 month old baby?

I always start with a rubbery spout one, that's most similar to a bottle nipple. After a few weeks of those, I can use whatever.

I also like the cups with the handles for beginners. similar to this:

Those look awesome! I have a 2 yr old right now that cannot drink without spilling everything every time. I like to get them on regular cups by 18 months, but this one I hope to get there by 3. He just can't do it. He just started to be able to use his spoon/fork well. Parents never give him that stuff and still only put 1 food in front of him at a time with only 2 bites of it. Cut his sandwiches and everything. He has no concept of "taking a bite". Wow, sorry, off topic.

I bought the take and toss ones for my littles, but they leak, so I think I'll have to go back to the Nuby ones.

I started out with the soft nipple ones. And that is what I use with other kids no problem... They seem to be an easy transition for most.

I just had to buy new cups last night because my 14 month dd has too much fun with the soft nipple ones. She loves to tip them and push the spout and spill it all, then splash on her tray. I affectionately call her "Little Stinker". I ended up with the RePlay brand, they are from recycled milk jugs and have a firm tip. So far, so good.

You might want to think about getting one with a rubbery spout and a straw attached inside if the baby has so far been bottle fed liquids until this point. The baby will have an easier time learning how to drink this way (with help through a straw) when sitting up vs a regular cup that he will have to tilt up. Once he gets the swing of the sippy with the straw inside you can remove the straw and he can then learn how to tilt the cup up.

I found that for me teaching a young infant (child under 2yo) how to drink from a cup goes a lot easier if I'm only teaching him one thing at a time vs two things at the same time (****ing from a new spout instead of a nipple & having to tilt the cup up at the same time while drinking). But that's just me .
