    How Much Notice Do You Provide?

    Our family usually starts making summer vacation plans in February/March for our June/July vacation.

    Last year I gave everyone 4 months notice about the vacation.

    This year our plans aren't yet definite and we are still waiting to see if we can get the same rental we had last year. If we do, the only difference rather than going Friday to Friday, we will be going Sunday through Sunday.

    Right now I am looking at taking July 4th (paid holiday), July 5th (unpaid...only have 3 scheduled that day), and July 8-16 off paid (7 business days).

    I get 12 paid days off per year so that will leave me with 5 days left...Dec 23, 26, 27, 30 and 1 left over.

    I'm so ready for vacation!

    I would give a tentative heads up and then confirm as soon as you know . Enjoy your vacation!!

      It sounds like you are giving them plenty of notice, it's tough trying to plan the vacations but I think even a couple of months is great notice! I just handed out a vacation notice to my families this week, vacation is week of May 27. Debating another mini vaca July 4th through the weekend, possibly Monday. I will make a decision by at least April and I think that's fine...

        I try to give them the heads up for my summer vacation plans in the spring. It's a necessity for us to plan ahead & schedule things, because my 3 grown children live such busy lives!

        I only usually take a long 4 or 5 day weekend & several 3 day ones, so it's not huge chunks of time I am off.

        I think you are giving them ample time!

          I start talking in March but give them as much notice as I can. Dh can only ask of 90 days in advance so I let them know when I know for sure.
          It:: will wait
