    My First Termination

I just termed my first family since opening in May. I've had DCB since Nov full time. They family is awesome but unfortunately their 6mo son was a screamer/crier, could never be put down and would only nap 20-30 mins and wake up still unhappy!
The parents sent me an email last night hoping to hang on and work things out but I've spent weeks with my nerves unraveled.
This little guy (6mo. Old) also spends a lot of time with Grandparents on weekends who are old school I guess and never put him down for play or naps or anything!! And can't believe mom puts him down in a pack n play to get things done!

I just want to say I found coming on here and reading threads about terming gave me the confidence to do so.

Mom took it well today.. I just hope there isn't too much awkwardness over the next month or so.. They have until 3/14 to find new care. He also won't be here all next week.

Great forum here with so many wonderful, helpful, caring people!

Hopefully the next month or so goes smoothly for you. I just had 2 criers/whiners leave 2 weeks ago and it has been absolutely glorious for the past 2 weeks that they have not been here. You are going to notice such a big difference!

The whining and constant crying for attention can be so energy draining and stressful not only for you but the other kiddos as well.

It was a double bonus for me though! The whiny/crier has left and I no longer have to put up with the 15 minute to 1/2 hour session of hoochi, cooey cooiing, kissing, i love you, taking forever to leave mom!

don't you ever wonder how parents deal with it when even we can't deal with it. I had a dad who let his child cry outside (he was outside too) because he couldn't deal with it anymore that the neighbour came to see what was going on. I even told the parents that all this chilld did was cry, and they thought I was joking.

IMO the parents deal with it by giving their kid EVERYTHING they want at the exact moment they want it just so they don't cry.

We as providers can not drop everything and give in to the kids demands every single time they want something.

Also, we must from time to time use that REALLY bad two letter word that makes these type of kids cry! You know that BAD word! It is the "NO" word! ::

My whiny crying little one who just recently left, had a mother who did not want anyone using that word with her child.

These parents basically gave him a bottle to hush him which I won't do or held him. They asked me what I would do i gave them some advice/ideas but I'm new to childcare and I only have one daughter myself who is 7yo and lucky for me was a easy baby (tougher 7yo, ) they said they would try to follow more of a schedule when feeding and napping or at least be more consistent.. But I can't wait it out.. I'm beat.. And I do have other little ones in my care.. I found myself trying to keep this lil guy quiet while others rested which was so draining.

Funny tho.. Today he's sleeping and has been since 7:30.. ::
            Never happens..

Have a good rest of the week everyone!

:: I have a family that won't use the word too. It's not surprising that daycare boy's behavior is soooo appaling at drop off and pick ups.

I find most of the criers to be an only child. That means the parents normally tag team to keep them happy. lots of holding and lots of feeding. some parents walk or drive hours because their child is addicted to motion.
