    In Your Policies/Handbook Do You....

Do your refer to yourself in the 1st person (me, myself, I, my) or in 3rd person (the provider/secondary caregiver, she)? Do you refer to the parents (or children) in 2nd person (you, your self, your child/ren) or in 3rd person (the parent/ guardian/ primary caregiver)? Or do you mix it up through out the policy?

If you do refer to yourself in the first person- do you have a key or in the into staying "Furthermore, in this contract the provider will be refered to in the 1st person as me, I, myself and the parent will be refered to in the 2nd person as you/yourself"?

The provider. I read somewhere on here to put provider and parent/guardian so that no one gets confused as to who you are talking about. But there were a couple of times where I did put "I" because it didn't make sense the other way.

Thats what I heard to and have been trying to do with mine but its also getting very repetitive and might be hard to understand at times.

I could email you mine if you want. I t does sound a little repetitive, but at least people can't get confused at who you are talking about.

My handbook says "I". I prefer my handbook to be somewhat personal and something a parent doesnt feel is a bunch of legal mumble jumble.

True, it does sound a little impersonal to put provider- I may just have to change mine!

I think trying to reorange the word right so putting "the provider" makes since also makes it longer.

I do try to use other words for 'provider' like caregiver, child care owner, and preschool teacher (plan on having preschool). but I am thinking about just doing it in the first person- It might even be a page shorter

Hhaha, I was going to say that if we change it to "I", our handbooks might be shorter...::

Here's an example from mine (I do not refer to myself in first person):
__Daycare name__ requires a written 2 week notice should your family decide to not continue with your child’s enrollment here. Without a written 2 week notice, you will be responsible for continuing to pay the tuition.
---- It continues on with the rules surrounding this, but I think that gives you a pretty good idea! ----

At the beginning of the policy I put that "provider" refers to _________ business name and then I just use provider from there on.

I use provider and put that "my name" shall be referred to as provider. My good friend is a lawyer and she said it sounded weird to put "I" and then "parent/guardian", it was either "I-YOU" or "provider-parent/guardian"

                      as in...

                      "Provider agrees to supply; x, y, z. Parent/guardian agrees to supply; x, y, z."

I use "provider" instead of I and "client" instead of parent or you. I do sometimes refer to my home as daycare.

"The provider requires a 2 week written notice of termination ..."
"The client is required to pay their daycare tuition fees when due..."
