    Anyone ever considered.....

    Becoming an licensing analyst? Just wondering if anyone has considered switching careers.

    What do you think the pros and cons would be?

    I think a pro may be working for the county...great benefits and retirement. And possibly flexible work schedule.

    Cons...typical problems you may run into with non-compliant daycare workers.

    My previous licensor tried talking me into applying for her job for several years before she quit.

    I would LOVE to have taken her job but really just couldn't move past the being my own boss concept.

    Even if being a licensor meant working for the county and had great business hours etc....I just really really like being my own boss.

    Plus I already spent 5 years working for the county before I opened my own child care and I have to say that the reasons I quit would still be part of the problem so I just don't think I could go there.

    My current and past licensor were both long term child care providers themselves and I think that helps them understand the licensor job just a bit more than someone who had never worked in the field.

      Do you think those that were previous DCP who went into licensing are "happier" doing licensing?

      Would you mind sharing some of the problems you ran into while working for the county.

      I had a chat with a friend yesterday and she suggested licensing, which is why it came to my mind.

        around here the state pretty much only hires those with a degree. It does not matter what that degree is it could be art history . A degree is not required but you won't be hired without it.

        I think I would like the job and would be good at it because I already KNOW the regulations ( not like most new reps) AND understand the providers point of view.
        It:: will wait

          I don't necessarily think they were happier but they definitely were able to put themselves in the providers shoes and understand the situations better.

          I think being able to see the provider's perspective was a huge help.

          My issues with working for the county are more about political beliefs and some of the things that go on in government funnded/supported programs.

          I cannot work for, support or agree with entities that enable others in the wrong ways....kwim?
