    Pregnancy Question

If you have been pregnant while doing daycare, at what point in your pregnancy did you announce it to your clients?

If you have not been pregnant while doing daycare, when would you announce it?

I waited until I was 10/11 weeks to tell my daycare parents. I am not showing at all yet, but we wanted to move before we had a baby so I kind of did it as hit two birds with one stone. We told them I am pregnant and that we are putting the house up for sale in hoping to find a bigger one close by. All my daycare parents took it very well, they were all so happy for us. I am 12 weeks 3 days now, so I just recently told my daycare parents.

I announced it pretty quickly because of all the doctor appts., morning sickness, tiredness, etc.

Also, I figured that way they had more time to decide what to do while I took the week off. Also, why not tell them right away, its not like you can hide it forever.

Another thing is I have always been close to my families and always received wonderful support. One of my children had medical problems while in utero and we had to go 1.5 hours away (weekly) to see a doctor. The stress from that was very hard and doing childcare was stressful on top so I'm glad my parents knew that if I seemed a little distracted or sad, they knew why.

I waited until my second trimester. I had two dcfs who were also pregnant at the same time, so it was a pretty easy announcement to make. I let them know that I would be hiring an assistant, and that I would schedule appointments that would impact them the least.

I also took the time to write a letter, explaining the risk of exposure to illness when pregnant. I reminded them all of sick policies, and let them know there would be no wiggle room with the policies. It was very effective!

Congratulations to you! I love being pregnant...unfortunately, that exciting time is over for me and my family now. We are finished with the exciting anticipation of a new little person in our world...but I how I miss that feeling! Best of luck, and make sure to listen to your body!!!!!

I personally would wait until at least after the 1st trimester because of the lower chances of misscarrage- its an old superstition to wait to tell anyone but your husband/Dr/close family before the 2nd trimester. But if you are high risk/at risk (such as twins) and need to close for a period of time for bed rest or appointments then probably sooner.

Just make sure you tell them either all the same day or send the same note home because some parents may be upset if they hear it from another family before you get a chance to tell them.

            Good Luck happyface

              Thank you!

I'm really excited and want to share with my friends (the baby displayed his/her hand proudly at the ultrasound on Monday!!!) but since we live in a small community I'm afraid that they might catch wind of my pregnancy without hearing about it directly from me.

I was a temporary employee through a local company when I had my last. I knew since I was there for over a year, they had discussed hiring me on. I found out I was pregnant the day after I became an actual employee. I didn't tell them until I was almost 20 weeks along for fear of losing my job.

Turned out, I had complications and the doctor put me on a restricted schedule due to edema. The company basically said, "Tough. We can't comply with the doctor's recommendations." I quit and took it to the EEOC and won a small settlement because of it.

If I were in your position...and knowing I don't normally start showing until about 6 months, I wouldn't say anything. Not just yet anyway.

I would wait until you have been seen by the doctor, had your first ultrasound and have full comfort in knowing that the pregnancy is going well.

I see the Doctor every two weeks and have already been 3 times. :: The pregnancy is going well and baby is doing great. I'm taking 22 pills a day since they can't figure out why I lost my previous 3 and this pregnancy has gone the longest. Love it and the "morning" sickness I'm experiencing!

This is how I told my friends:

                    first off congrats....

I think that you should tell them when you feel it is the right time for you. I would tell them sooner as opposed to later so that they could be understanding of my position. for example if you throw up and the DCK saw you, they may go home and say DCP thew up today and then you are going to be questioned..

I am very excited for you and your family...

:: I did have to make a run for the bathroom one day earlier in my pregnancy. Thankfully, they really don't question me going to the bathroom. Now, all of my throwing up is lovingly reserved for the evening hours of 7:30pm-11:00. ::

I told much earlier than I had originally planned. I wanted to wait until the second trimester, but I had to tell at about 8 weeks because I was severely ill (had to take Zofran until 16 weeks). I actually lost weight and looked so awful that I was afraid they'd think I had an awful disease.

How far along are you now? That pic is adorable.
