Does anyone else have this problem? During the winter I am zapping myself silly! I use fabric softener if I put clothes or bedding in the dryer, I use conditioner on my hair, I run a humidifier, I even wear a rubber band with a paper clip attached on my wrist because I read that would help. I'm afraid to touch any metal, and even worse I shock the kids and our cats when I touch them. I tried to help one little guy with his zipper the other day and he yelled at me to stop because I was shocking him. This morning I took another little guys hand to walk somewhere and he said I shot him! With those big eyes saying why??!!? Any suggestions? My poor little dck's and cats thank you in advance.

I have that problem also. Do you wear shoes in the house? We find it much worse when my husband where's his crocs.
We also have 2 humidifiers and shower with the bathroom doors cracked to get that extra moisture into the rest of the house.- Flag

We don't wear shoes but I always wear slippers and the kids all wear heavy socks or slippers. I don't see any way around that though, it's too cold for bare feet! I'll have to try the trick with keeping the door open when showering, it couldn't hurt.- Flag

Can you up the humidifer? I can't remember the name of it, but they have a gadget that can tell you the amount of mouisture in the room so you can adjust it if needed. I know when I forget to run my humidifers or don't have them up enough we start getting zappy::

Would a little Static Guard help? I've never tried it on rugs but I use it on my clothing and spray it on my comb/brush before running them through my hair. It works well and outside of occasional shocks, I don't have too much trouble with static electricity.- Flag

I don't know if we can turn it up or not. I tend to not bother with that stuff until I need it. We have a guy coming to look at our thermostat today, maybe I can get him to educate me on the humidifier while he's here.- Flag

Humidifier, lotion of skin (especially hands), ground yourself often, avoid synthetic materials-polyester is the worst for producing static, try to wear all cotton (bedding too). Rubber synthetic shoes can cause a lot of shocks-try different types of shoes like cotton/leather materials.- Flag

I get that look from the poor dog all the time, as I have your same problem. Luckily it is only at home, not at work for me. I wear a lot of fuzzy pants/socks at home, and love my fleece blankets. I think that has something to do with it somehow.- Flag
