Not Even Sure What Just Happened

So we are all playing outside at recess. I'm pushing two dcks on the swings and the other two are playing restaurant in the playhouse. I look up to check on the two dcks in the playhouse and notice that dcb is now behind the playhouse. I call to him, "whatcha doin over there?" To which he didn't respond. I walk over and there he is, pants down..peeing. I was so shocked! I immediately stopped him and had him pull up his pants and go inside to potty. Everyone else went ahead and came in as well. After I talked with him I realized that he had been allowed to do that at home. That's all fine, but not here buddy! sheesh!!

    ::::

Just had the same thing happen here this summer.

We live in a very wooded part of the state and being outdoors and having to use Mother Nature as your bathroom is pretty common for BOTH sexes but still.....

I usually try to be proactive with the kids before we go out so that no one does their business in public.

It is kind of funny though....

I had 2 kids do this. The one, mom took care of it when I told her. Now the other mom, well she would use the excuse "well he's a boy" "he does that at gpa's house" "he does it at home" He's also 5 and I live on a busy road and no fence so everyone can see. the first time I talked to the boy and the mom, he did it again and this time I punished him. I just can't have him doing this all over the yard. The mom always uses the "well they are just boys" card.

We used to own a little gas station in a town of about 200. One day I was talking to "Farmer J**" while standing behind the register. I looked behind him, and his 2 1/2 yo boy had gone out (the door was wide open), to pee on the gas tanks. He saw my expression (goofy smile), and said "what?" I said "you don't take him to town much, do you?"

Once I got over the shock I was laughing on the inside!

But on the outside I was all, "oh,dck! Potty inside in the bathroom not outside behind our toys! Hurry, run inside!"

Then I couldn't help but think that if I had not caught him I would have hoped I taught him well enough to pretend wash his hands before he returned to making pretend food in the restaurant. ::

I don't like that excuse at all! If it happens again I'll definitely have to do a time out or something because doing that consistently isn't something I approve of in my yard! But just this once, it was funny.

I do need to make them go potty before we go out from now on though,I hadn't even thought of it as an issue until now!

One morning, I had a boy walk in and say "I pee on tires!" I was all "Um...Okay then".

But, a few weeks later the other kids started telling me "He peed on your grill". I never caught him doing that, so I didn't believe them. Then, I saw him...he was peeing on the wheels of the grill... he peed on the tires of the Cozy coup too.

We had a talk with Daddy about that. He knew about the habit, but didn't think he was doing it everywhere. They fixed it right away.

At our old house there was a neighbor boy that would always be outside peeing on the tree out front. He wasn't allowed in the house during the day. Thankfully I convinced him that he could come ask to use my bathroom and stop peeing outside, but also since he peed outside most of the time, he was, well, not the best aim.

When we were younger, we used to go out back too because we didn't want to have to walk all the way home. We even made a "spot" in the bushes that was surrounded so no one would see::

my son potty trained early, was out of diapers on his 2nd birthday, and we were at the park once, and he was on the little rock steps, and it was busy there, I was standing by him, but was also talking to another mommy, and when I turned back to loook at him, he was pulling his pants down and peeing all at the same time, on the equipement! I was soooo embarrased, he was still so young and whenever we were in our backyard and he had to go while we were training we would let hiim go (I didn't do daycare at that time) obviously the peeing outside is a big thing learned from daddy, another time, when my son was 2, my step dad and my husband were building a fence for me to start daycare, and my stepdad was holding stuff low, and his hand started getting wet, he looks up and my son is peeing on his hand!! oh no, everyone was laughing, my step dad was so mad, we of course put my son on his bottom and he was very upset, he wasn't trying to pee on the hand he just had to go sooo bad he just went, and lets see here, you and my husband at least 5 times each have turned around and peed on that tree there, so don't get to upset at him, he's just learning from you men. Oh and then there was this past summer (my son was 5 then) I was cleaning in the kitchen and he was playing out in the front yard climbing the tree, and all the sudden I was like "what the heck" does he have water up in the tree, and I yelled at my husband to get out there right this instant and talk to him! he was facing the street peeing from in the tree, he was definatly taught better than that! I was so upset, but it was still funny and my husband and I did laugh about it, but not to him!

I was out in the play yard with my dc kids, pushing one on a swing. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this tall, arc of water near the sandbox. I looked at it for a few seconds, wondering where it was coming from before it dawned on me it was one of the dc kids. He had pulled his pants down and was peeing in my play area. Dcd didn't understand why it was a problem for me; he did it all the time at home.

I termed a five year old this fall for pottying outside. He'd been with me 3 years and his behavior kept going from bad to worse. First it was peeing then he would poop his pants, then he wiped his poop all over the play equipment and the final straw was when he walked out of the playhouse pulling up his pants. Yep, he $#!% in the playhouse. He was to busy to go in side. All with in a two month time period.

Another DCK's grandmother is the office clerk at his elementary school. She says that 2-3 times a week his mother gets called because he's pooped his pants or bittten another child or pulled the fire alarm or pushed someone down or climbing the playground fence and escaping...
                          I see little people.

Hey...when ya gotta go, you gotta go! LOL! This thread is cracking me up!

Yeah, I'd just be matter-of-fact about it as you were and then let it go. Then I would just make sure to have him potty before going outside from now on so there's no "urge" to drop trow and go outside. ::
