I have a ft dcb whose Dad was laid off for the season due to weather/construction work. Normally I would just replace this dcb, but I have a good rapport with the family and would like him to come back to care. They are paying for what breaks down to 2 days, even though dcb will only attend MAYBE one day/Fridays. We updated his contract and dcm and dcd have agreed to pay the second day rate to hold his place, it is not available to them.
NOW, I am out a significant amount of money, as he isn't expected to return to care until March at the earliest. I would like to offer my current pt families the additional days. Typically I have charged them as drop in days/$50, but would like to give it to them as my FT daily rate of $35. WITH the understanding that this is temporary.
I have one family expressing interest in adding a temporary day already when she became aware that I had 4 days opening up, but to give all of my parents a chance and an incentive to do so, I thought the $35/FT rate was fair. If they all picked up the extra 4 days, I wouldn't be 'out' money.
Would you do that? How would you word a letter to parents (I get wordy...obviously)
