I have a quick nap time question. My schedule states that nap time is from 12:30 until 2:30. I have a little boy that just turned 2. He just started coming here but at his old sitter he would sleep for 2-3 hours. Here he will lay down but wont sleep and it only lasts about 20 mins. I have talked to the parents several times about this. Mom told me that he does not nap at home ever and at the old sitter it was 2-3 hours if he laid on her bed. I have tried a bed, nap mat and pack n play and he wont sleep. He will cry, scream, yell and do everything possible to wake the other kids up. This child NEEDS a nap and is not a very nice person come the afternoon. My kids sleep in the bedrooms. Nap time is my break time and I need that time for myself and for my sanity. He is a good little boy and I have no other complaints. I know you cant force a child to sleep but they have to be quiet and rest. I have given him books but he just throws them, tears them or is just not interested in them. I just feel a 2 year old should sleep for at least an hour. I am just wondering if the parents dont give him a nap so he goes to bed earlier at night??
I have even put a baby gate in front of the bedroom door so when he tries to get out he cant go in the other kids rooms and wake them up. He just climbs over them and is on his way. I do have one little girl who sleeps down by me because she is just 3 months old. When she cries I dont want her waking the other kids up. I have tried putting him down by me and he wont even lay down.
I am really lost and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
