Wow! I could only have dreamed of the hours all of you had. My first kid(s) would arrive around 7-7:30am and the last one would leave around 10 - 11:30pm. Plus, I was open on Sat and Sun for the last year that I was doing daycare. I just closed a couple weeks ago. At one point, in December 2009, I was working 85-100 hours a week. Plus when the kids were sleeping, I was baking for the 19 care packages I gave as gifts for Christmas (3 dozen cookies and a banana bread per package), working on DVDs for our family and friends (25 DVDs), working on the DVDs for my DC families (6 of those, each individualized), wrapping presents, and doing Christmas cards. I was VERY exhausted after Christmas. (side note: I am fabulous at multi-tasking and being very efficient) But I felt great and loved being so busy. But, by February, my husband put his foot down and said, "no more 7 days a week. You are over worked. Pick a day to take off every week and stick to it." I did.
Of course, now that I am pregnant and hauling around 2 babies (approx. 12 inches each and 1.5 lbs each) and chasing a 2 year old, I can't imagine how on Earth I had so much energy in December. What was I thinking?
But I only did those hours because it seemed like no one in my area has regular hours, so to get clients and stay full, I had to take oddball hours. If I didn't, I would have lost 2/3 of my clients if I closed at 5 or 6 pm. But, no complaints now - I am a completely full time, stay-at-home mom and loving it!! No more drama from owning a business (other than the 2 cases I still have pending over non-payment).- Flag
