Try a warm cloth, that always worked with mine. Some people use warm olive oil in the ear canal, but I was always afraid to try that.

Heating pad. They seem to make it ear pain better. I would also recommend ****ing on something. That is also known to relieve pressure in the inner ear.

Try this site too... it lists a couple other things to help

Most earaches are caused by fluid buildup in the ear, and can be related to infection or pressure. When the Eustachian tubes become blocked, increase in ear pressure results, causing an earache. Eustachian tubes are the small tubes that connect the ear to the nose.

Alternate Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Tylenol doesn't help swelling if he has it, it just helps block the pain receptors in the brain but ibuprofen will help with swelling. They are different types of pain meds so they are processed differently and won't clash. Alternate every 4-6 hours.

There's also homeopathic ear drops you could get at the drug store. They work nicely for my kids. I'm sorry I'm late, I hope your little one feels better soon.

Don't think I am nuts. Drip a little olive oil in his ear with a medicine dropper. DS had fever and was all out of sorts last year. My mom suggested this after heating pad and nothing worked. I did not heat it up. He was up and playing within 20 min!
