When giving homemade yummies to someone (family for example, but not family I'm close to), how much is polite? Like if I have three kinds of cookies and three kinds of candies, how much of each?

Would depend on the ingredients and time invested for me.
If you make something that was spendy and time consuming to put together one for each will do, if it's something small and easy peasy like Spritz though I'll pack up a couple of handfulls for each individual.- Flag

I usually send enough for everyone to have 1, except for my cut out cookies because we always have waaaaay too many of those, and then I do 2. Closer friends/family get enough for 2 each. My father-in-law only gets cut outs and tons of them-I think I do a whole batch just for him- Flag

Thanks for the advice! My sister's contribution was that a usual plate of cookies has 18, and split that among all the different kinds. So, not too much at all, really, when you split it up, and pretty similar to what most of you said.
darn you, willow, for reminding me about the Spritz...I have a cookie press that was my mom's that I have ALWAYS wanted to play with, and I've been meaning to...
I want the gifts to look generous, but I don't want to be ridiculous about it, so yeah.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag

Sooo easy.....but sooooooooo much butter
Walmart had 2 quartered packs for under $3 last weekend, I loaded up just so I could make a crap ton of those little buggers. They freeze so well and are perfect with morning coffee!- Flag

I make 8-10 different cookies and candies. I just fill the tin up so as to not affect the integrity of the goodies. This year, it ended up being one of each type. I like to think if it more along the lines of a box of chocolates.....one of each and a large variety.
