    Poor kiddo

My long time friend (and aunt of my dcg) called me this afternoon to ask if I could watch her 6 yo dd tomorrow. Poor kid is on antibiotics for bronchitis (not contagious), her regular care provider is going to Mexico today, and grandma is taking care of great grandma who is undergoing chemo treatment.
I love this girl and willingly agreed to watch her tomorrow. It just about broke my heart when my friend told me that when she picked up A from her care provider early today, she asked, "Mommy, can we just go home? I just want to be home." This child needs to stay at home for the next couple of days, but neither mom nor dad are in the position to take more time off of work right now. They all have been really sick lately, and have been taking a lot of time off. It makes me sad for families that get put in this position, but grateful that because I work from my home, my children have the opportunity to stay in their own bed if they aren't feeling up to par.

Looks like it will be hm chicken soup for lunch, coloring and movies tomorrow.

I realize this doesn't sound real nice, but working for a boss that doesn't recognize that our children are priority is a choice.

Allowing our work to dictate what kind of parents we are going to be is also a choice.

When I was in the work force, I specifically chose who I was going to work for. I had a family emergency and worked from home once for two weeks. I also took a week off because my dayhome provider did and just made up the time later on. I left work early because my son was sick whenever was required. This was all with the same employer in a year period. We just worked together as a team to ensure the work was done and my family wasn't compromised.

We always have a choice even if we don't realize it at the time. My heart goes out to the family and child in their position. They are so lucky to have you. What a wonderful aid you are being in their time of stress.
