    Tis the Season

    For lots of excuses, late pick-ups, early drop-offs, requests for special, cranky kiddos, and a tired me.

    It is Christmas for me, too, and I also have lots to do. So PLEASE, stop asking me to work later, earlier, longer.

    One more week. I am actually hoping for snow, just to get a day to myself! Uggg.

    ::::::::

    I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have to hold back my comments/laughter when parents drop off saying they have the day off to get Christmas gifts or clean for guests that are coming etc. or when P/T kids are dropped off an extra day(s) because the parents say they need to get things done for the holidays...REALLY???

    When on earth do you think I/we do it!? I don't take extra time off prior to Christmas, or drop off my own kids with anyone on weekends to get things done...why is it so hard?? :confused:

      It's been this type of a day.......funny I was going to post something similar, as to how everyone is holding up with the Holidays amongst us? Anyone feeling the stress of the season?

      For me, I feel tied down a bit, and exhausted come nights and weekends. I usually have the tree up and ready, the house decorated etc... my little crew won't give me the time to do these things.....aka exhausted out. Feeling it a little bit. Still chipper and holding my positives but see them dwindling as the count down to Christmas happens. Anyone else?

        Oh, bite your tongue!!!! I feel for you but I'm hoping even harder that it doesn't snow! I still have so much to do before Christmas. We still haven't put the tree up and I've barely started shopping for my own kids. I'm getting nervous that either snow or illness will keep me from getting everything done on time.

        Unfortunately, I think parents forget we have lives outside of day care. I think they also forget or don't realize that they are just one family out of serveral who might be asking for a special favor. One request to work an extra hour one day isn't bad. It's when several families ask to pick up late or arrive early on several different days that it starts to feel overwhelming to me. Looking forward to a week off for sure! (Then it can snow!)

          I never stress about Christmas any more. NOTHING has to be perfect. Everyone will either love their gift or hate it or plan to regift it next year. Everyone will be full after Christmas dinner; if I forget to buy cranberry sauce, oh well. The cat is going to destroy the Christmas tree anyway, so, who cares if it looks wonky. The beds will have clean linens, and if you have to bunk on the floor for one night on a foamy because of unexpected guests, then have fun on your indoor campout. There will be love, laughter, hugs, games, traditions, and joy. There may also be hurt feelings, snubs, drunk relatives, show offs, boasters and depression. It's all part of being a family; good and bad. I'm not so unrealistic any more to expect perfection, but nor am I bah humbug. I take the good with the bad and revel in the ordinariness of all of it. But, mostly, I like to wait for Santa and nibble on his milk and cookies after everyone's asleep.
