    Cda???

    Okay. My niece just graduated hs, and wants to work with children. Florida requires 45 dcf hours (nutrition, rules & reg, abuse & neglect.......) within the first year of working in childcare. If she goes to college to earn an AA degree.....does she still need to take the 45 hours? Also, is it recommended she get a CDA, if she is going for an AA?

    Okay..I think I found part of the answer...if she has 6 credits or higher in early education field, then she will be exempt from 45 dcf hours.

          may I add a little something.... Here many of the young girls work in a center and get a TEACH scholorship. While they are working towards their AA they get their CDA this is usually paid for by TEACH and helps the center with accreditation.

          Now for the added part one was so excited when she got her degree and my sis asked what will you do now and the girl was stumped. Sis says well you can keep working in centers for $8 an hour or you can get you BA in teaching and make a living they usually go 2 more years.
          It:: will wait

            This is true, the classes needed to get an AS (that's what I have-associates in science-child development) go towards the CDA. I earned a certificate of Achievement, then CDA and then my AS. You don't have to take the CDA class to get the Associates and in most cases if you have an associates, the associates is over the CDA. And while I am proud to have an associates, it is true, for child development you do not make very much. I am in MI and you can become a director with an associates, but in my opinion it is not worth it, I love the children, but I also have to survive KWIM? Sorry I quoted you itlw8, and answered Bugsworthy too...

              Thank you. She has decided to go for her AA, and along the way she will earn her CDA!
