On The Spot Decision! That's What I Love!

So I've said I've had a huge turnover in daycare lately, termed a few people, some moved away, some will be returning after maternity leave. I also have been interviewing like CRAZY and have signed some new families.

Well, last night I did an interview for a really sweet 2 year old boy that would fit PERFECTLY with my group. He and my DS played together SOOOOOOOOOOO nicely it was an instant YES from me. Family had a sense of humor and were great.

Dad got a new job suddenly and they need to start on Monday. They signed ON THE SPOT! I know some of you don't do that, but I was very pleased with it all and it was a yes from me.

    Yay!

    Congratulations! happyface

Normally, I don't sign on the spot but honestly if it feels "right" then it simply feels right.

Glad things are looking up for you!

I don't typically sign on the spot either, but I have made exceptions and it has always turned out well! Congrats on the new kids! happyface

        That's awesome - congratulations! happyface

We signed up on the spot with our current provider about 10 months ago and we couldn't be happier. My husband and I just exchanged a look and we both knew it was a great fit, she had already thought of EVERYTHING, her kids got along great with our daughter, etc. Sometimes it just "clicks"

That's wonderful! The one thing I've learned in my years of providing child care is to never have hard and fast rules about certain things. Often some of the things I swore at the beginning I would never do I've changed my mind about and it's worked out well. Best of luck!

I've had several sign on spots that have been successful. When I used to work I just several daycares for my kids because of different issues so I seldom hold that against a parent. In fact one of sign on the spots left his other dc because of behavior issues. Everyday dcm would pick him up and they would tell her how bad he was, this was even a commercial center. He's been with me for about 3 months now, I have to tell him to use his inside voice like a million times a day (he talks loud normally) and I have to tell him to stop running in the house as well but he acts just like every other 3yr old. I haven't had any serious issues enough to report back to the parent as being a problem! Sometimes in an interview I just let parent's talk, they usually talk themselves in or out of my daycare. By the end of the conversation I can usually tell if I want them here or not. Also I LOVE when they ask for references! I have 3 parents that have been with me forever that are my go to references! They have been here through the crazies and they know how to talk to the new parents to pull stuff out. I had a new parent interview the other day............she talked my ear off for like an hour and half but her daughter got along good with the kids.............she wanted references so I gave her my 3 omigos! Glad I did cause they pulled all kinds of stuff out of her and as it turns out some of what she told me were lies. All 3 reported back red flags and said to run far far from her! happyface
