Ruins Anything to do With Santa!!!!

I have been showing different youtube videos to the kids Santa talking to them and such.

Today I showed them the Santa/Reindeer that was posted here.

One of mine when we are watching it keeps saying "its just a video" in this voice that is just wrong. The other kids get so excited to see Santa and this one is ruining it for them.

Today I put them in quiet time when they did it. True it is a video but be quiet! If you don't want to believe its the real guy then don't but don't ruin it for everyone-

Does anyone have one like this?

MY KID! ACK! He is a GRINCH! I made it into a biggg joke. Bought him a grinch shirt that he wears when he feels like ruining christmas, and when the grinch song comes on the radio, all the kids now call it "X's song!" It lightens the mood and usually puts ds in a better mood.

I used to! At first she was "scared" of Santa,n as she got older it was "I don't like Santa", at.5 she happily announced to the group that Santa is fake. She said this as "Santa" (my husband) was doing his annual Santa routine. "its just Mr. Magnolia, look at his shoes! Santa is fake".

I showed the reindeer cam yesterday too, right when Santa came out my oldest (4.5) says, "that's santa's helper.. Not Santa! Ugh... I just pulled him aside and gave him the speech.... You're the biggest here so YOU know what the REAL Santa looks like, but your friends are too little to understand that Santa has helpers that dress up like him. So let's just keep that big kid secret between us, ok? And I winked at him... He LOVED that! He's already 4.5 going on 60 so... Lol!

I would not include the child. There are some girls like this at brownies, we just remove them. Its like they enjoy ruining any fun for the kids.

Ick, ick, ick...thumbs down to "fun haters"....even if they are kids! I would get mad if one kid was ruining things and would have him sit at the table and do something else. I'm sure I would say there was no reason to ruin the fun. And those Brownies....Just STOP

I like the idea of pulling Negative Norman to the side and asking him to help out and pointing out he is the "big kid helper." Your idea seems better than my tactic of getting upset with the kid. Thanks!

I don't "do" Santa in my child care because in the past I've had so many different families with different beliefs. I do find a lot of the younger children are afraid of Santa so I try to be senstive to that (says the mom with the child who is terrified...)
That said, I would not let any one child "ruin" any activity for the group, so I might take them aside and speak to them about it. Perhaps if it's something they feel that strongly about, give them another "job" or activity to do while you do that with the others?
